It seems like a really dumb move by Russia, if they wanted more Americans to move there, then chunking people into the war is really bad PR.

It's hilarious, but isn't going to make more people move there.

He said, “If I risk myself for our new country, no one will say that I am not a part of it. Unlike migrants in America who come there just like that, do not assimilate, and at the same time want free handouts.”

DeAnna Huffman said her husband felt he was being “thrown to the wolves” given that he had only received a limited amount of training, and that it was in Russian.

Hmm… Seems like he got a taste of his own medicine.

Oh that's adorable, he thinks that if he cares about Russia, then Russia will care about him. Oh, my sweet summer child...

[-] Wrufieotnak@feddit.org 1 points 5 days ago

They care about him as much as they care for the normal Russian citizen, so goal reached?

He assimilated to Russia quite well.

He really fits the stereotype of the ugly American who ventures abroad and expects everyone to speak English.

Just about as anti-woke as you can go. Now he can die for his ignorance.

I heard somewhere else that they might already be KIA.

[-] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Unfortunately unsubstantiated claim he was KIA. His wife made an offhanded comment in a video 6 days ago about an unexpected sack of potatoes that arrived, but she claims he is alive and that she spoke with him 18 hours ago.

Given how fast the turn around is for some units, I am leaning to believe it. Paired with the lack of body recovery we are likely to just never know for sure. Just one more statistic. Just wish someone got a last interview with the guy asking what he thought about the emma and two moms recruitment ad. Lot of people were hating it at the time and saying this video for the VDV was better. Still has some old comments on it saying so. Still I guess props to the guy for actually joining?!

Just to clarify, she got the potatoes/posted video ~5 days before she claimed they spoke to him. Could be a lie of course, but I'm inclined to think the bag of potatoes was quite small and maybe a gift from a neighbor or something. It's not the 50kg sack we've seen before.

The video is interesting. It says that Russia sent out visa invitations directed at families like them. They are obviously not wise people, along with 2 other families.

The Huffmans settled in an “American village”, a settlement in Istra created by US expat and blogger Tim Kirby, who has lived in Russia for two decades. It was founded in 2023 as a refuge for Americans fleeing what Mr Kirby described as “liberal gender norms”.

However only two families, including the Huffmans, are known to have moved there, according to a report by United24Media.

And then this? It's all very odd.

However, a link on their channel, which has since been deleted, directed users to a Telegram group titled “Save that little girls”.

Created on Sunday, the group contained one message: “We are asking the United States government to save this family,” along with a photo of Mrs Huffman and her daughters crying in the street.

It is unclear if the family created the group. The Telegraph has contacted the Huffmans for comment.
