[-] sexy_peach@feddit.org 26 points 3 weeks ago

I'm vegan btw

[-] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago

I respect your struggle. Best.

[-] Actionschnils@feddit.org 5 points 2 weeks ago

Vegetarism/veganism and National Socialism have in Germany (at least to some point) shared cultural roots.

fuckin Steiner and the Theosophists get off the hook way too easy

[-] kadaverin0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

It's funny watching Waldorf education advocates squirm when you bring Steiner's racialist ideas and ties to volkisch movements and ideologies.

Can you substantiate your claims with some factual resources? Much appreciated.

[-] Zombie@feddit.uk 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Nazi in Chief was a vegetarian, so there's that. Whether there's anything beyond that I dunno, I'm not OP nor German, but I would doubt it

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adolf_Hitler_and_vegetarianism

[-] Paper_Phrog@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, thanks. That's indeed not news and doesn't relate to what the guy said ofc. And not seeing evidence yet I find it highly offensive from them to state such a thing.

Curious to hear their sources!

[-] Actionschnils@feddit.org 1 points 1 week ago

Naturalism https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naturalism and Bilogism https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biological_determinism were a relevent movement in Germany in the late 19th and early 20th centuary. And for parts of the "Lebensreform" Bewegung https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lebensreform it was en vogue to be vegetarian or vegan. It was not a totally fascist movement, but some members were hard core racist and ableistic. The NSDAP claimed some of their values, and formed it into their own propaganda. FE:

  • Fkk into nazi body cult a la Leni Riefenstahl
  • Healthy, natural lifestyle in general into an arian, healthy lifestyle for a society ready to fight
  • esoteric views into their own arian pseudo-religion

So as part of this, hitler was a propagandizing vegetarian. And Hitler and other leading nazis were some kind of "animal rights activist" https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_welfare_in_Nazi_Germany

Some of this values are deeply printed into the NSDAP and are so part of today Nazis in Germany. "Nazi-Hippies" (as people in my bubble are caling them), are still a thing here.

As far as i remeber, the German Green Party had in the founding times problems with Nazis in the party.

If you want better sources, i can only give you german Documentaries from arte or dlf. Im just an interessted dude and not a historian or teacher. Im not prepared to present sources in English :)

[-] DrunkAnRoot@sh.itjust.works 23 points 3 weeks ago

this seems ai the face is not there and the box on the wall looks off

[-] Siegfried@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago

AI + photoshop, maybe?

[-] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 weeks ago

Pretty sure just photoshopped. The logos are way sharper than the rest of the image and the arm band and sleeve logos are really fake looking.

They did a decent job on the flag I guess though.

[-] cepelinas@sopuli.xyz 4 points 3 weeks ago

Ai checkers say this is 0.01 % ai generated so this is either Photoshop or an obscure model.

The guy on the right has his face obscured by the white part of the flag he is holding. Also, if you look at the guy on the left, you can see the label on his jeans is slightly blurred. Looks like the person snapping the picture either moved their phone or the guys were still moving slightly.

[-] glorkon@lemmy.world 23 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

There's a satirical movement in Germany called "Front deutscher Äpfel" (front of German apples). One of their slogans is "Was gibt der deutschen Jugend Kraft? Apfelsaft! Apfelsaft!" ("What gives German youth strength? Apple juice! Apple juice!")

They would surely approve.

[-] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

Is .... Is their banner supposed to invoke an instant thought of the Nazis?

[-] Ghyste@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 weeks ago
[-] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

The German sense of humor is arid.

[-] glorkon@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Americans think Big Bang Theory is the funniest sitcom ever, and whenever a foreign word sounds like a funny English one, they lose their shit. And then they tell Germans about their sense of humor....

[-] Oaksey@lemmy.world 10 points 3 weeks ago

They tell you.

[-] TherapyGary 23 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

I'm vegan and I never tell anyone

[-] Lemmee@sh.itjust.works 11 points 3 weeks ago

I actually have you tagged as “vegan” so you don’t need to tell me!

I’m vegan btw (I also use arch and ride a fixed gear bike) Btw

[-] Valmond@lemmy.world 11 points 3 weeks ago

You just did though ... 😁

[-] Barabasz@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

No, they didn't. I know this, because I'm vegan too and I would never tell anyone about this.

[-] onlyhall@aussie.zone 3 points 2 weeks ago

I'm vegan, but I'd never tell anyone I'm vegan. Nope, I'd never tell anyone I'm vegan. I'm vegan btw

[-] felsiq@piefed.zip 10 points 3 weeks ago

Wow it’s almost like if they didn’t tell you, you wouldn’t know, and you’d continue to think this was accurate

[-] Oaksey@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago
[-] bitflip@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 3 weeks ago

Are you telling us you are not vegan? 🧐

[-] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 weeks ago

Definitely photoshopped. Also found the skinhead celtic cross hidden on the other sleeve.
