People who own cats know that they are very sensitive to your emotional state and will absolutely come comfort you when you're distressed or very down. I've had three cats on me at once sometimes, which is not something they "regularly" do.

Little furry angels, every last one of them. I owe them so much.

I know! We really don't deserve cats

considering how cats just keep showing up in people's houses and acting like they've been living there all along, it seems we do in fact deserve cats

My cat absolutely doesn't care about my emotional states but I love him no matter what.

Therapy definitely has its place. But that place should also include a purring cat, as should every home.

I mean, if you have mental illness you might absolutely need therapy ๐Ÿ˜…

Having living things to take care of and cuddle with can absolutely be a helpful part of treatment and benefit to one's mental health though! :)

Why not both?

Hearts in a singular cat? More likely than you think. Your cat may be an errant Time Lord.

Save me a fortune

Totally not in my experience ๐Ÿ˜…

But yeah i keep on moving because whenever i reached home i would lie down on the floor and play with my cats for half an hour before proceed to bath and do other stuff. Without them i think i wouldn't be here.

both is good, i choose both

[-] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

Is that not therapy?

[-] Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.org 11 points 1 month ago

Ideally both

We had two dogs, a cat, and a bird, so the house was always full of animal silliness. My wife left me a couple months ago and took the dogs with her. I've become so thankful for the cat. She just wants to be where I am, constantly: on my lap if I'm sitting, or on my chest if I'm laying down. It's made a very hard time just a little less hard.

Yea I tried that, still depressed, and now I also have a cat that's depressed because I struggle to take care of her ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Oh, but a therapist can write an emotional support animal letter so you donโ€™t have to pay kitty rent!

[-] Sculptor9157@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago

You do, however, pay more for the therapist than kitty rent.

If only my airways wouldn't clamp up tight and my skin wouldn't start flaking, itching and basically falling apart after a session like that. โ˜น๏ธ
