BAe harrier II technical manual

[-] cronenthal@discuss.tchncs.de 41 points 1 month ago

That's pretty sweet, though!

[-] Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net 35 points 1 month ago

Not doubting you, but source?

[-] katze@lemmy.cafe 10 points 1 month ago

"BAe harrier II technical manual war thunder leak" is it that hard to google?

[-] Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net 127 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

With all the AI garbage, SEO and algorithm bullshit, search engines aren't what they used to be.

I'd rather ask the person making the claim to provide evidence, which really isn't a big ask.

[-] katze@lemmy.cafe 6 points 1 month ago

That is too much text for someone who is too lazy to google lol

[-] Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net 32 points 1 month ago

Yes, because as I just explained to you, it's not about laziness.

[-] JackbyDev@programming.dev 24 points 1 month ago

Buddy, we are on a discussion forum. Search results come to us, not the other way around.

[-] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 66 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Yeah, why would anyone come to a discussion thread for relevant or useful information, to ask questions with helpful clarifications and answers?

Clearly it makes more sense to be an obstuse, smarmy asshole, that really helps the community seem welcoming and grow, makes everything seem jovial and friendly.

[-] katze@lemmy.cafe 4 points 1 month ago

Good question. Try googling it!

[-] huck@lemm.ee 9 points 1 month ago

They were looking for answer not an ad

I should have known that I needed to make my joke more obvious.

Also, I can't go back to reddit. I've been gone so long that they cancelled my passport.

[-] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 54 points 1 month ago

Surely they're well into the twenties as to how many times this has happened?

[-] swab148@lemmy.dbzer0.com 52 points 1 month ago
[-] Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net 39 points 1 month ago

Sounds like a list long enough to have a dedicated wikipedia article.

[-] Kwdg@discuss.tchncs.de 59 points 1 month ago

Well they don't have a dedicated article, but a very long list in the warthunder article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_Thunder

[-] BigDaddySlim@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

The fact that the wiki states that 2 of the leaks were posted just to win an argument is hilarious to me

[-] shininghero@pawb.social 38 points 1 month ago

I've said it before, I'll say it again:

Lock the entire forum into read-only mode for a week, and plaster the leakers name on the front page as the reason for the lock.

[-] itslilith 155 points 1 month ago

That's how you get weekly leaks

[-] LaLuzDelSol@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

Yeah I'm sure Warthunder DOESNT want that to happen. They are a Russian company after all- I'm sure they want people to STOP posting classified documents of western vehicles!

[-] burntbacon@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 month ago

Considering that they've basically said everything to stop the postings aside* from threatening to ban people from the game, I'd say they actually don't want the posts.

*They've said they will never used the leak material for game design purposes, and they also cooperate in the prosecutions of the leakers, IIRC with the nato/western leaks.

[-] mycelium_underground@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

If you're a Russian spy op you don't give a shit about using classified docs for improving the game, and once you trick an idiot into giving up classified docs why wouldn't you cooperate with authorities. It's not like you give a shit about some dumbass US airman or that you don't keep copies. If the they didn't cooperate they wouldn't have a chance at getting the next 15 leaks after the first one. You would have to be a fucking idiot to not cooperate and keep the classified docs rolling.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm saying the logic you used to come to that conclusion is deeply flawed.

[-] LwL@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

The reason the statement to not use them for game design purposes matters is that that is often the reason users post the documents. They'd have likely provoked more leaks if they'd stayed silent on that (even though it should be quite obvious).

Though also regardless of what gaijins intentions are, I'm sure at this point russia has someone watching new war thunder forum posts 24/7.

Why would they, whoever "they" is in this instance?

[-] jumping_redditor@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago

why shouldn't warthunder instead just give them some in game currency as a prize instead.

[-] Breezy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

How does this get any upvotes? Bots? Shills? Oh both, well damn...

[-] shininghero@pawb.social 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Look, I thought it was reasonable because I hoped it would turn the rest of the forum users against the leak source.
Everyone getting locked out for a week should... hopefully have the chilling effect I'm looking for?

Some people just like the easy answers.

[-] Cris_Color@lemmy.world 33 points 1 month ago

Again??? Christ.

[-] yesman@lemmy.world 31 points 1 month ago

Oh no! The harrier? Did they get the specs for the Avro Vulcan? What about the Spitfire?

The details of the Boulton Paul Defiant mk1 might be floating around somewhere... And a Catalina too.

[-] Allemaniac@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

I hope those suckers dont have access to my paper plane files

[-] Goldholz 14 points 1 month ago

How did they put it out this time?

[-] Coolkat@slrpnk.net 6 points 1 month ago

That's insane

[-] rayquetzalcoatl@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Haha that's so awesome, I love when this happens

A community for your defence shitposting needs

Rules

1. Be niceDo not make personal attacks against each other, call for violence against anyone, or intentionally antagonize people in the comment sections.

2. Explain incorrect defense articles and takes

If you want to post a non-credible take, it must be from a "credible" source (news article, politician, or military leader) and must have a comment laying out exactly why it's non-credible. Low-hanging fruit such as random Twitter and YouTube comments belong in the Matrix chat.

3. Content must be relevant

Posts must be about military hardware or international security/defense. This is not the page to fawn over Youtube personalities, simp over political leaders, or discuss other areas of international policy.

4. No racism / hatespeech

No slurs. No advocating for the killing of people or insulting them based on physical, religious, or ideological traits.

5. No politics

We don't care if you're Republican, Democrat, Socialist, Stalinist, Baathist, or some other hot mess. Leave it at the door. This applies to comments as well.

6. No seriousposting

We don't want your uncut war footage, fundraisers, credible news articles, or other such things. The world is already serious enough as it is.

7. No classified material

Classified ‘western’ information is off limits regardless of how "open source" and "easy to find" it is.

8. Source artwork

If you use somebody's art in your post or as your post, the OP must provide a direct link to the art's source in the comment section, or a good reason why this was not possible (such as the artist deleting their account). The source should be a place that the artist themselves uploaded the art. A booru is not a source. A watermark is not a source.

9. No low-effort posts

No egregiously low effort posts. E.g. screenshots, recent reposts, simple reaction & template memes, and images with the punchline in the title. Put these in weekly Matrix chat instead.

10. Don't get us banned

No brigading or harassing other communities. Do not post memes with a "haha people that I hate died… haha" punchline or violating the sh.itjust.works rules (below). This includes content illegal in Canada.

11. No misinformation

NCD exists to make fun of misinformation, not to spread it. Make outlandish claims, but if your take doesn’t show signs of satire or exaggeration it will be removed. Misleading content may result in a ban. Regardless of source, don’t post obvious propaganda or fake news. Double-check facts and don't be an idiot.
