In fairness the question posed is how do they "fight" not "how does the equipment work".
Reminds me of community college when anyone in the class had actual on the job programming experience the instructor starts grilling them about what the corps actually are having people work on.
Tactics change with better equipment, nobody would defer to the reanimated corpse of the red barron for modern air combat.
I love the reported fact that pilots in WWI would tip their nose as a sign of respect when downing another pilot.
