YouTuber MrBeast has issued an apology after his 'MrBeast Experience' at a Las Vegas resort did not live up to the billing.

The event at Resorts World Las Vegas was advertised as an "immersive" and "unforgettable" experience that included exclusive games, a MrBeast-themed menu and mystery bags thought to contain limited edition merch, including one with a $10,000 (£7,550) gift voucher.

Instead, the guests camped out in their hotel rooms waiting days for their bags to arrive. And when they did, the guests were underwhelmed.

"I was told to wait in my room for two days for a package to come, so I legit spent two days in my room for a package to come, and it was a box of chocolates," Ms Metta said.

Several users said on social media that they received T-shirts in different sizes, which could be purchased for $9 (£7) online.

His smile NEVER reaches them. He's such a grifter

[-] ArchmageAzor@lemmy.world 18 points 4 weeks ago

He never figured out how to fake a smile. He knows a smile means moving the corners of the mputh up and showing some teeth, but his eyes remain dead and uncaring.

[-] garretble@lemmy.world 8 points 4 weeks ago

And him photoshopping every thumbnail to be overly saturated and bright with smoothed out skin doesn't help.

Judging by how Americans vote, this guy will be president within the next twenty years.

Mr Beast is the quintessential example of someone who defines themselves by their unfathomable success, attributing it to their unique work-ethic and dedication, and then collapses under the weight of their impossibly large ego

[-] Mister_Hangman@lemmy.world 17 points 4 weeks ago

I could cook a turkey on the heat of this burn.

Thank you.

My hopes for world evolution are dashed when I see people still falling for this stupid shit every day.

[-] pulsewidth@lemmy.world 14 points 4 weeks ago

I hate influencers too so I get it, but I figure its mostly kids and young adults who grew up watching him, so I put the blame more on the systems and communities they grew up in.

Those kids should have been protected by say.. A strong consumer protections board, or parents controlling their screen time & curating their viewing, government banning phones at school, or outright banning social media for kids, or a quality education teaching them media literacy - but all of those things are demonized as bad things that those socialist European countries have.

God damn, almost instinctually downvoted this post because I saw his face

[-] Widdershins@lemmy.world 11 points 3 weeks ago

Y’know, the thing about him, he’s got lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll’s eyes.

[-] Flemmy@lemm.ee 36 points 4 weeks ago

Thing is this isn't the first time. He did more challenges with awards but once the video was done he took up and left off. Smiling to the bank with that uncanny valley expression.

[-] resipsaloquitur@lemm.ee 36 points 4 weeks ago

What a punchable face.

[-] wanderwisley@lemm.ee 35 points 4 weeks ago

He’s not sorry for anything honestly. He will continue to do bs like because of this fans. It maybe funny and cringe now but it will be interesting if he tries to run for office or alines with a political party. “ hey guys I just bought an election!”

[-] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 4 weeks ago

Clearly, no one's read Transmetropolitan lately.

MrBeast themed menu? Like a bunch of moldy lunchly?

[-] TommySoda@lemmy.world 31 points 4 weeks ago

Replying to a fan's complaint on X, Donaldson admitted it "definitely isn't the experience we hoped they'd deliver" and promised to make it up by inviting everyone affected to his studio.

I feel like this could have been on purpose. If it wasn't he would have offered refunds.

[-] FooBarrington@lemmy.world 11 points 4 weeks ago

I doubt it. Inviting to the studio is probably way cheaper - not everyone will do it since people would have to travel, and even when they come, there's not much cost to a quick tour or whatever.

Who the hell cares about this random streamer.

[-] demunted@lemmy.ml 18 points 3 weeks ago

Exactly. Paying 1000 dollars to see some scripted asshole is not how I would like to live. If was rich and had dumb kids that idolized him I would disable their internet access.

I'm assuming the hotel rooms were not paid for by Mr. Beast.

Never been to Vegas, but I've heard it's obscenely expensive, and the owners jack room rates when an event like this happens.

"So, just wait in your room, that you're paying for, to get your goodie bag."

That sum it up?

[-] st3ph3n@midwest.social 25 points 4 weeks ago

If there’s one thing Vegas resorts don’t want you to do, it is to stay in your room. You can’t be losing your ass on the casino floor up there.

[-] Geetnerd@lemmy.world 10 points 4 weeks ago

Is it true the alcohol is free is the higher end places?

[-] NielsBohron@lemmy.world 15 points 4 weeks ago

Even the cheap places as long as you are wagering a certain amount

[-] Geetnerd@lemmy.world 9 points 4 weeks ago

I thought it would have something to do with that. Thanks for the info. I'm not a gambler, and I'll probably never end up there, but good to know. Have a good one.

[-] NielsBohron@lemmy.world 11 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

I'm not much of a gambler either, but I live in a casino town, and I've gotten lots of drinks comped by sitting with $20 in a video poker machine while I drink and shoot the shit with my friends.

Just remember to tip well, and go in with the mindset that any money you're betting is the cost of entertainment for the evening. It's a fun way to spend an evening, and plenty of times I wind up going home with money that I would have just spent at a bar.

Edit: also if you're into sports, the sports book is the way to go. If you wager $10 in what's called a parlay on 3 different games, you can win $160, so even games you otherwise didn't care about suddenly become interesting. Betting in three baseball games can be a great way to kill a day hanging out in the summer

[-] Mearuu@kbin.melroy.org 13 points 4 weeks ago

any money you're betting is the cost of entertainment for the evening

I wish more people thought this way. When I go with this mindset I’m never upset when I lose. I tell my friends it’s like an adult arcade, you pay to play the game not to win the prizes.

Most places will try to keep you there if you’re a whale.

Or they think you’re a whale.

Or you just lost a certain amount to them. Generally, if they’re comping you free drinks, it’s because it’s seen as more profitable than letting you walk.

Of course waitstaff might also comp you drinks because whatever- you’re a good tipper, they like you… you’re not a raging douche…. Or something.

[-] Chozo@fedia.io 11 points 4 weeks ago

In many places, yes. Though "free" comes with the implication that you still tip your server, because something about the way the alcohol laws are written make it so the server is the one "paying" for your drinks. So keep making it worth their while, and they'll keep the drinks flowing.

Travelling to Vegas and staying in a hotel there are actually both pretty cheap. The hotels want you to stay in their hotel so you'll gamble in their casino and not someone else's.

This is the type of ghing that he shouldn't need to appologize for. The appology does no good. An appology is for if you said something that could be misinterpreted, or you made a bad choice thinking it would play out differently.

This is just an intentionally poorly planned event. They wait in their hotel room for 2 days. Then they get chocolates. In no scenario does that play out differently. Those bags will always contain chocolates if you plan for them to contain chocolates.

So what's the appology? "I'm sorry I ripped you off"?

Also, $9 T-Shirts? I'm confident that if I go into Walmart, their cheapest T-Shirt is $20. So how low quality are these T-Shirts??? Especially since I assume they also have some branded print screening on them.

[-] Reyali@lemm.ee 16 points 4 weeks ago

I agree with most of what you said, but you are severely overestimating the cost of t-shirts at Walmart. They start at $4 for plain or $7 for graphic tees from what I can tell. Even band tees and things like Mickey Mouse are in the $9–14 range based on a cursory glance on their site.

if you go to these or you let your children go, you deserve to get scammed, which is probably also Donaldson's point of view. No respect for that guy btw, but I doubt he has little of it for himself either.

[-] ChaoticEntropy@feddit.uk 11 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

Because he is happy to licence his face and brand to any Tom, Dick or Harry. He certainly got his payment, so oh well.

[-] BackgrndNoize@lemmy.world 10 points 3 weeks ago

Does this weirdo have like one photo where he looks like he's smiling for real, is he incapable of feeling joy or something. He definately seems like he's on the spectrum when he talks, don't know if that's a contributing factor

The sad thing is, once he really hit it big, he could have just done good will stuff and kept the money fucking rolling in.

He didn't have to do * emotions to all of everything * this.

He could have hired a PR firm and a capable management staff, still had fun circle jerking his friends but actually be a positive force for society.

Everybody he has running the show is under educated, incapable, and unashamed of all this.

With that kind of money he should have a office building full of people working this shit out.

I can't tell if he's super stoned in this pic or if he just looks that soulless all the time. However, I lean towards the latter given his circumstances.

[-] daepicgamerbro69@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago

it's the latter. Cameras notoriously steal souls, that's why youtubers can do those ad reads, whereas normal person's dignity wouldn't allow one to.

[-] jollyrogue@lemmy.ml 8 points 3 weeks ago

Oh, just a disappointing LV attraction. I was hoping for some Charlie Sheen level winning here. I could have used a good celebrity melt down this week.

He let us down AGAIN. SMDH 😔
