Got to love the double stupid. So is this guy seriously just going to live with it and assume there is no treatment rather than you know finding out if there is a treatment?

Also what's a birth control pill going to do?

[-] Shortstack@reddthat.com 41 points 3 weeks ago

The pill prevents both people from ruining their lives

[-] KyuubiNoKitsune 33 points 3 weeks ago

The pill prevents 2 people from ruining a brand new life.

[-] ameancow@lemmy.world 12 points 3 weeks ago

As a ruined brand-new life almost a half century ago, I endorse this message. I promise ya'll would have been FINE without me.

[-] LOLseas@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 weeks ago

Awwwww, don't say that, ameancow. We love you!

[-] suite403@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

I would have been fine without me too. I was an accident, which is fine, as far as I'm aware it hasn't really changed anything. But from religious trauma and all that, I actively wished I hadn't of been born as a kid.

Sorry to hear that, I know the feeling and it sucks. It's better after growing up and starting your own life and making your own way, and I hope you're proceeding in that direction.

My parents reminded me every "anniversary" of when they changed their mind in the clinic and decided not to end my mother's pregnancy. I heard that story from my earliest days and never understood why they told me that over and over at the time. I get it now, and I feel more pity for my late parents than myself anymore. Some people are completely incapable of being adult enough to bring a new life into the world with actual responsibility and care, whatever the circumstances were for that life coming into being.

[-] suite403@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Thanks for the response and kind words.

That last part is pretty much why I don't have kids. Well, and just remembering what it was like for me growing up. I like to think if I didnhave kids they'd be better off than myself, since I wouldn't force any nonsense down their throat, including but not limited to, worthless without y and threats of eternal suffering.

I think OP is talking about the anti HIV PrEP pill, which is a cool thing but hard to get.

[-] Saleh@feddit.org 26 points 3 weeks ago

HIV is not giving you painful urination a few days later.

[-] Skunk@jlai.lu 4 points 3 weeks ago

I know duh, that doesn’t change the fact that OP was most probably not talking about contraception pills, which wouldn’t help neither in that scenario.

[-] Pupschism@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

Depending on your country. It's easy to get in Australia, there may be programs in your country to get it to you for a discount or free.

There are also things like doxy pep, antibiotics taken before and after exposure to bacterial infections which are only prescribed to people with, shall we say, high volume sex lives to offset the cost/benefit ratio of taking possibly uneccesary antibiotics

"But I can't wear a condom! My penis is so huge it feels constricted! You don't understand!"
Mate, your dick is not too big for a condom. Stop being an idiot.

[-] Jesus_666@lemmy.world 19 points 3 weeks ago

Even if it was, condoms come in sizes.

[-] i_dont_want_to 1 points 2 weeks ago

I need a fitting room

[-] SirDankbud@lemmy.ca 15 points 3 weeks ago

They make large condoms. I'm blessed enough that I have to use large and even with that it was constricting enough that I usually couldn't cum with one on. I still ALWAYS wore a condom until I got engaged to my wife. I understand that the benefits outweigh the risks.

[-] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 3 weeks ago

For me, it wasn't the constriction, it was that lowered sensitivity. There are thin ones and there are magnums. I need the mags, which I haven't seen with a thin option (though I haven't bought condoms in years and maybe that'd be an option now). I'm glad to be beyond that mess.

[-] TRBoom@lemm.ee 2 points 3 weeks ago

I had some luck with Kimono MicroThin XLs.

[-] suite403@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Random story that is mostly not related here but I wanna tell it so I'm going to.

I almost can't get off when having sex. Like, it's a chore and it fucking sucks to try. Even without a condom it's just not happening.

I hook up with this lady, she says guys finish really fast with her and I'm like, well, that's not going to happen here.

With a condom on I turn into a 4 pump chump. This lady was not super hot or anything. But damn.

Outside of a few years after starting to have sex, I've never had thst experience before or since. I always wonder what made the difference.

[-] TheDoozer@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

Her kegels could probably crack walnuts. You're lucky you walked away with your dick still attached.

[-] suite403@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Would have been worth it!

[-] SirHery@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

Did measure your condom size?

[-] suite403@lemmy.world 15 points 2 weeks ago

The only thing I remember from health class was the teacher putting her whole arm in a condom.

Which is shocking given how anti-sexhealth my parents were and the community I grew up in at large. No idea how that teacher had a job but damn, respect.

[-] fif-t@fedia.io 15 points 2 weeks ago

I kinda hate that kind of demonstration because arms have bones, dicks do not, so it's not really a valid one. They're basically blood balloons and condom size actually does matter to them working. There is such a thing as too small (or too large)

[-] TheDoozer@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

Seriously, it does way more harm than good giving the impression that condoms are a one-size-fits-all thing. An uneducated guy could buy a box, use the whole package getting soft every time because his dick is getting put in a mild sleeper hold, and come to the conclusion that he can't have sex with a condom.

Proper health education for boys and young men should include talking about "finding the condom that works for you." Women don't usually do one set of birth control and just go with it forever no matter how shitty it is, they try different things until they find one that works, sucks the least, or find an alternative. They don't just try a pill, have side effects, and give up on the idea of birth control because some ignorant teacher suggested that all birth control is the same because (makes some inane demonstration).

[-] njm1314@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Sometimes hearing y'all talk about health Ed classes that actually taught y'all stuff is wild to me. I live in a red state. Sex education for me was basically a two-day seminar where they showed us pictures of the gnarliest venereal diseases they could find. Like that's it. We didn't see a condom at all. Learning about condoms for us was first hand. In a Motel 6 that took cash with my girl after we bought a few different brands to try them out.

[-] suite403@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Given my state and area I grew up I'm surprised. When I joined the military I got the bombardment of "here are STDs!" Scare tactics. And I can't recall they talked about condoms. Pretty crazy.

[-] fif-t@fedia.io 12 points 3 weeks ago

I have to special order mine internationally and wait weeks because the ones locally simply don't work for me, but I still wear 'em

[-] lb_o@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Same issue, my brother... Khm... Khm... same issue, totally...

[-] sirico@feddit.uk 11 points 2 weeks ago

It's like a 2 litre bottle, because of all the swelling from stds

[-] Boomkop3@reddthat.com 42 points 3 weeks ago
[-] bhamlin@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

Use two, just to be safe. One for you and one for your partner.

[-] Boomkop3@reddthat.com 4 points 3 weeks ago

Bring ten, unless you're only fucking once

[-] biggerbogboy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 weeks ago

Nahhhh, cling wrap does the job good enough

[-] MisterMoo@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Only sailors use condoms baby.

[-] Boomkop3@reddthat.com 27 points 3 weeks ago

Loser sentiment right there. Just make sure you don't put a kid in a shitty life with parents that never wanted it

[-] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 11 points 3 weeks ago

Preventing pregnancy is the most replicable effect of condoms. I’d be much more worried about gonorrhea, HIV, even syphilis.

[-] Boomkop3@reddthat.com 4 points 3 weeks ago

I usually think like: Hurt yourself all you want, but don't hurt others

[-] erin 2 points 3 weeks ago

The vast majority of people I know in the queer community around me get tested regularly and don't use condoms, since pregnancy isn't a risk.

[-] Boomkop3@reddthat.com 2 points 3 weeks ago

That works! Enjoy! Good to hear you're keeping yourself and your partners safe!

[-] MisterMoo@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

It’s a goddamn Austin Powers quote you dingus.

[-] Wilco@lemm.ee 12 points 3 weeks ago

Not in the 2020's, Austin.

[-] gabelstapler@feddit.org 2 points 3 weeks ago

But they should! Traveling from Port to Port...

[-] LOLseas@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 weeks ago

Can confirm. Was a sailor.
