This pretty much went exactly as I (and anyone with a functioning brain) predicted it would.

Trump gives the middle finger to the Supreme Court, and Bukele helps run cover for Trump by saying he's not going to return him anyway. This pretty much puts the courts in a position where there's nothing else the courts can do even if they wanted to (and they weren't all that interested in doing much in the first place), and Trump gets to walk away from the whole ordeal with absolutely no punishment. Again.

And what's scarier is that it basically sets a legal precedent that if you're "accidentally" deported, too bad, so sad, sucks to be you.

Can't think of any times when "undesireables" have been sent to prisons/gulags in other countries. Nope. Nothing springs to mind...

America has the highest incarceration rate in the world. The average maximum security prison holds 800-1200 prisoners. The largest, Angola, LA, holds over 8000.

Our most famous black site, Guantanamo Bay, located in CUBA (WTF?), currently holds about 120, but that's about to change. HitlerPig has already signed an executive order to build a 30,000 bed detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, and a $249 billion contract has been awarded. This will be in a remote corner of an island controlled by a hostile enemy, far out of the prying view of the courts, or the media. Anything could happen there, and nobody at home would ever known about it.

So they are now building a facility there, that will hold 30,000 prisoners. That's nearly 4 times our largest prison, which is already about 8 times larger than average. Clearly, they are intending to incarcerate far many people that they already do. I wonder who those people will be?

Perhaps the most worrisome piece of news is this: It is expected to be finished in 2030. Why would HitlerPig commit to such a facility if he wasnt going to be able to use it? Perhaps he expects to still be in power in 2030.

The media in this country is so infuriating. They asked if we were going to do anything about it, and Bondi says its up to El Salvador. So they asked the El Salvador Hitler, and he says "What am I supposed to do? Its not up to me to make decisions for another country, its a preposterous question!"

Literally EVERY person in the world who could negotiate such a thing was sitting right there in that room, and none of the "journalists" suggested they work it out right now, with the whole world watching.

Yesterday, Peter Navarro was on Meet The Press, and the host never asked him a single question about his primary source for his tariff expertise being a phony expert whose name is an anagram of his own. Its all I would have talked about, but she never alluded to it at all, even at the end when he was blathering on with weird insincere flattery of the host (I got the idea that that's how he addresses HitlerPig). The guy is a total fraud, and yet he is in charge of our disastrous tariff strategy, and she can't ask him a single question about his obvious fraudulent qualifications on the subject.

The journalists in the White House Press Corps, and hosting shows like Meet The Press, are supposed to be the top journalists in their proffession, but they treat their jobs as if their only responsibility is to provide a platform for the worst people to present their propaganda as Truth, without any questions.

Any chance of a summary rather than a link to a .mov file?

Paraphrasing: The homegrowns are next. We gotta get rid of the homegrown criminals. You gotta build about 5 more places.

Trump to Bukele

Understatement.

[-] answersplease77@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

what is homegrown? what does that mean?

[-] courageousstep@lemm.ee 16 points 1 day ago

I assume “grown”—or “born and raised—in America.

AKA: US citizens.

[-] boydster@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago

It means American

There's no context...

I hate the guy too, and I'm certain he wants to kill us all, but I don't think he's dumb enough to be so cavalier in front of cameras and mics to say such a thing.

He could be talking about the rose garden for all we know.

This is eerily similar to the uncomfortable photos taken of Biden where it looks like he's looking down a 13yos blouse when in reality it was just impeccable timing as he turned his head. You take thousands of photos a day of a guy, eventually you're gonna come up with a few that look pervy.

[-] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

He was speaking to the president of El Salvador in regards to building more supermax prisons to incarcerate “homegrown” criminals. He repeated it on camera. The only difference with the hot mic is the scale that he failed to mention on camera.

[-] xyzzy@lemm.ee 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

He was asked about it directly by reporters, sending US citizens to El Salvadorian prisons. He said he wanted to and there have been multiple confirmations that the White House is exploring this.

[-] Critical_Thinker@lemm.ee 23 points 2 days ago

Why these people absolutely hate this one guy is completely indeterminable.

it's like the only thing dumpy really wants is to never be told no, regardless of how wrong his mistake is.

[-] billiam0202@lemmy.world 49 points 1 day ago

A couple of options:

  1. Imagine the media circus that would occur if Garcia came home. He'd be plastered across every website and front page of every newspaper, which of course takes attention away from the Toddler in Chief. Furthermore, the GOP doesn't want Garcia to talk about how absolutely inhumane the conditions he would have been subject to, for obvious reasons.

  2. Bringing him back is an admission of wrongdoing, and that's one thing the GOP and Trump can't do under any circumstances.

  3. They can't bring him back, because he's dead.

[-] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago

I don't think nt have a strong inner monologue but how in the hell can someone lay their head down at night and just not hear a shrieking voice screaming in their head, "OMG What have you done!!? " Once that's gone, once the humanity is flushed out of you so thoroughly, only the can I no longer pity your soul.

Do not other him, do not de-humanize him, or anyone. Ever. Pity him absolutely, hate him if you're inclined.

Everyone is born a human, be they typical or divergent. Whether they are typical or divergent, we are all human. The whole point of shifting to "neurodivergent" was to reduce the dehumanization of those with differently structured brains.

The owning class live in their own bubble of affluence and excess. Their lives have been fundamentally different than that of the working class. They have devised their own morals, their own ethics, their own nations and religions and empires for all of human history. The owning class are just as much the products of imperfect human systems replacing imperfect human systems, as are the working class. It's all generational trauma, year after decade after century after millenia.

Yet, they are still human. To think otherwise is to consider yourself superior in a fundamental way. To think "I would never do that!" without considering how the fundamental differences between your upbringings is a judgement call made in bad faith.

This is not to say I think they shouldn't be punished to the full extent of the law. There is absolutely still personal responsibility regardless of your upbringing. But when we base or bias our systems off of/towards rewarding adversarial human emotions should it come as a surprise when we raise adversarial humans?

Regardless of their nature or nurture, we are all humans, we are all stuck on this planet together, and boy is it heating up fast.

[-] Frjttr@lemm.ee 8 points 1 day ago

Yet Americans are not doing enough to solve this huge issue.

[-] Freshparsnip@lemm.ee 9 points 1 day ago

Does that make it official that America is dead?

[-] VagueAnodyneComments 10 points 1 day ago

Yeah buddy, this was the last straw. Now the slavery empire that acts as a global hyper-terrorism force is bad. Sorry.
