crazypeople.online has seen slow but steady local growth as well as growth within the communities we host. We have a few regulars in most communities now and new people engaging with the content more regularly. Here's the rundown:

Gained ~20 Subscribers
Gained ~15 Subscribers
Stagnant Growth

A BIG THANKS to everyone across the fediverse who participates in our communities. I don't want to tag the same few people every week but you're all awesome for helping turn an empty space into communities with a pulse. 🙏

We try to offer some low stress retreats from some of the more headline dominated communities. If you haven't checked us out you definitely should, you might find your new favorite hang out.

!buyeuropean@feddit.uk still going strong, hopefully we're getting closer to consolidation with !buyfromeu@feddit.org and !BuyFromEU@europe.pub

Quite happy with !fediverse@piefed.social, thank you for everyone contributing there

The various spaceflight communities I've been growing (!spacex@sh.itjust.works, !spaceflight@sh.itjust.works, !spaceflightmemes@sh.itjust.works, !rocketlab@lemmy.nz) are chugging along nicely, aided by some posts by @llamacoffee@lemmy.world and @jia_tan@lemmy.blahaj.zone.

I've been able to be a bit more hands-off with !electricvehicles@slrpnk.net and !teslamotors@lemmy.zip, thanks to @Sunshine@lemmy.ca, @sabreW4K3@lazysoci.al, @schizoidman@lemm.ee, and @BrikoX@lemmy.zip. I've started crossposting some posts to !byd@lemmy.world, !geely@lemmy.world, !rivian@lemmy.zip, and !xiaomi@lemdro.id to build them up a bit.

Attempted consolidation of corvid communities to !corvids@sopuli.xyz went... poorly, but hey, you win some, you lose some.

!cubers@lemmy.world had a few posts in the past week, which was nice.

I'm still feeding !nosafetysmokingfirst@sh.itjust.works with Reddit content, but a couple weeks ago someone other than me posted one!

Memes on !leaky_cauldron@diagonlemmy.social seem to be getting quite a bit of traction, though the inactivity of the single admin on that instance is a bit worrying in the long-term... might be soon time to consider relocating.

[-] Stern@lemmy.world 7 points 6 months ago

!neat@lemmy.world I made it to post random stuff I couldn’t elsewhere. On rare occasions others post. Satisfied with that tbh since its not like I have a karma score or whatev

[-] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 6 months ago

!ask@lemm.ee still getting regular activity

[-] CheeseToastie@lazysoci.al 2 points 6 months ago

Cos it's a really nice place to hang out! It's fun and has a good atmosphere. It's my favourite one

[-] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 6 months ago

Thank you for posting there!

!animation@lemm.ee is doing pretty well. We're close to a thousand subscribers. One thing I've noticed is that even on the occasional days where there are no new posts, we're consistently getting new subscribers. I'm guessing it's a testament to the staying power of certain posts and also the fact that the community is pretty high up in various animation/anime/cartoon related directories.

It's something that's made me more comfortable with going a day or even multiple days without a new post whereas in the past I would desperately search for anything remotely relevant to post and sometimes find myself a little burnt out because of that. Now, not only are there a decent number of other regular posters but I don't really freak out too much if I can't find anything compelling and relevant to post.

Good to hear !

!gothindustrial@lemmy.world is going great, we got some new mods and frequent posts, I'm building up a backlog of music to listen to!

I have been thinking of starting something up. Is there a guide? Mines pretty boring but I might attract a few other simple craft geeks.

[-] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 months ago
[-] Skellysgirl@lemm.ee 1 points 6 months ago

I think some low energy crafting and reusing. I have found in recent years Insta etc has made crafts and creative tinkering into a competition for perfection. I like tinkering making etc for relaxation, and not out buying more crap to fill my house. There are still plenty of forums and blogs out there too it’s just tough trawling through all the crap. Plus sometimes it’s good to have a place to just throw out a question. Has anyone tried this? What was the result etc.

[-] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 months ago

Maybe try on !imadethis@lemm.ee. The community is already there and quite active. I posted a "what are you working on" recently and got quite a few comments about on-going projects people have.

[-] Skellysgirl@lemm.ee 2 points 6 months ago

Oh I haven’t seen that. Thank you.

[-] CheeseToastie@lazysoci.al 1 points 6 months ago

Hey Cherry is it crafting? If so I'll help promote it in !WomensStuff@lazysoci.al

[-] Skellysgirl@lemm.ee 2 points 6 months ago

It is. I haven’t done anything yet but I will take a look at women’s stuff. Thanks.

[-] CheeseToastie@lazysoci.al 1 points 6 months ago

OK great let me know if you set it up.

[-] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 6 months ago

@Stern@lemmy.world I just realized I posted the other thread in the wrong community

[-] Stern@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

lol no worries big man

Pleased that !automationgames@lemmy.zip has attracted posters who aren't me in its first few days of existence! Thanks to it I played some automation games again. Mindustry may not be for me… I'll give it an honest shot but I just hit the tower defense tutorial and am feeling a bit leery. I'm not a "violence in video games is bad" type so not sure why I am getting like this.

Waiting for the day the Fediverse gets more users. I mod 3 communities now and I am letting it go because small platform, someone has to provide content, and although I am fully capable of posting without being a mod the things I'd like to post about don't always have preexisting communities (or have a dead one, so precedent to recreate—the "hey that's too specific, just post in a big general community" hurdle tends to be presented less often when the community already existed on the Fediverse). But in a normal situation this feels too powermoddy.

[-] RubberElectrons@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

Sigh... Kinda bad. I don't search for latex porn and photos like I used to, real life and all gets in the way. !shinyporn@lemmy.world

Lemmy doesn't feel as centered around that stuff, and I don't think that's a bad thing.

[-] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 6 months ago

Have you tried promoting it to !communitypromo@lemmy.ca ?

[-] frightful_hobgoblin@lemmy.ml 3 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

!noyank@lemmy.ml went through a week of dormancy but seems to be waking up with the daffodils and has hit 400

[-] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 6 months ago

@Snoopy@jlai.lu , sorry I just realized I posted the first thread to the wrong community 😅

[-] Snoopy@jlai.lu 1 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

You meant it was for fedigrow ?

[-] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 6 months ago

Yes, I do those threads weekly on !fedigrow@lemm.ee , got confused this morning and posted to !fediverse@lemmy.zip

[-] stargazingpenguin@lemmy.zip 2 points 6 months ago

I've been starting to get a few posts (besides me) showing up in !star_trek@lemmy.zip, so that's good! I feel like there are a few too many communities (there are 7 general Star Trek communities, plus the more specific ones) for the amount of users currently here, but that's how it goes! The community founder decided not to continue, so I decided to take over rather than let it disappear.

[-] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 6 months ago

there are 7 general Star Trek communities, plus the more specific ones)

That seems like a lot indeed

[-] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 6 months ago

!android@lemdro.id still going strong.

Seems like !android@lemmy.world isn't as active anymore, maybe this will lead to consolidation

[-] falseprophet@fedia.io 2 points 6 months ago

!Bside@fedia.io an community for alternative gaming is slowly growing at the moment there are 79 subscribers. so far from the 35 post only one is not mine. I get some occasional comments which is nice.

I a pinned thread with a collection of news in a form of a zine somewhat similar to what user PerfectDark does from the steamdeck and games communities. It includes a poll asking if game mods and romhacks should be part of the community and so far I have only 3 votes.

[-] Elevator7009sAlt@ani.social 2 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

I think part of the issue is that it would be nice to contribute but I'm not always super aware of smaller games that could fit the community.

[-] Elevator7009sAlt@ani.social 2 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

Wondering if an option to opt a community out of downvotes outside subscribers would be a good idea.

I remember being on Mbin and seeing some poor baseball community I was browsing with things that looked to be factual and from credible sources having about 3 upvotes and downvotes to most posts, making it look like the content was fake or low-quality. I'm wondering how many of those votes were actual subscribed people (or people interested in lurking), and how many were just trolls downvoting anything they could—which happened to congregate in on a tiny community with not too many supporters to shout out the troll voices (like when a post has 50 upvotes and 1 downvote and zero negativity in the comments—you can probably guess the downvote is not for "off topic" or "low quality" or "spam" or "cruel," just a troll being a troll).

I do think the outside world's input is still valuable, but I do want to be able to protect small communities from having this happen to them, where every post looks like a shit contribution if you just check the votes even if the posts are good, because random people who downvote a topic because they just don't like that topic instead of blocking it from their feed or scrolling past, or actual trolls, got to it and there are not enough subscribers to drown the noise out.

Posting because I think some small communities I'm in have total outsiders downvoting posts to the point it outweighs subscriber upvotes: they are usually totally inoffensive, have no misinformation, and are on-topic for the community and on par with the usual effort it takes to make posts in that community, and yet almost even in upvotes/downvotes.

[-] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 6 months ago

It is possible on Piefed

[-] CheeseToastie@lazysoci.al 2 points 6 months ago

!WomensStuff@lazysoci.al has been going great, it's a really great group of people and interaction is good. I've been blown away by how supportive so many lemmy men have been about it!

!Witchesvspatriarchy@lemmy.ca has a new mod, she's keen to develop it so I'm excited to see where it goes from here
