I was using Boost but noticed some missing features, so I switched to Raccoon. I like it so far
I'm on an iPhone and using voyager at the moment but not really a fan. Maybe I just haven't learned how to use it. Any suggestions?
Apollo, er, Voyager.
Summit has been great so far after I recently changed apps.
I bounce between Voyager and Arctic. On iOS. Voyager on Android.
Boost
Voyager
Artic. Easy to navigate, very good privacy.
Connect is the best in Android
It's what I use, but I haven't completed a comprehensive survey. It's good enough I'm not looking for anything better.
Currently I use Boost for Lemmy, I even buyed it to support it. Sadly there was no update since last july ๐
Has it needed an update? He was really good with the Reddit app. If there isn't an active problem with the app tho, it may not need updated. It's what I use, and I haven't had any issues with it
Edit: just to get onto my parent comment, he is working on an update for 0.19.9 features, posted 2 days ago. It seems there may have been some departure from regular updates, so hard to defend that, but seems like he's back on it?
Community and info @ !boostforlemmy@lemmy.world
I think if you're gonna charge people fees then it should be regularly maintained. Big reason I'm done with sync.
Big reason I'm done with ~~sync~~ paid software.
FTFY
Spoilers aren't working.
Ooo I had seen that, but I rarely use the website so I just assumed it was an issue with markdown in general. He was fairly responsive in the reddit for the app, I wonder if there is one here that he responds to?
I like regular updated software. Don't know if it is still an active project
I mean fair, but if there is nothing to update, what would there be to do?
Update 1.0.12: Just want to keep Playstore dates recent?
If you liked RIF, you'll like Jerboa.
Thunder is my favourite. It's an android app and I got it from F-Droid (Izzy on Droids Repo). Clean and customizable interface, convenient features like for example multi account support. I would recommend it!
Too bad it can't handle private messages apart from reading; you can't even easily mark them as read. The interface is mostly excellent, though, and hey, I'm using it for this comment right now.
Its lovely indeed
Summit is peak Lemmy!
Awesome app, awesomer dev. If it doesn't do what you want, talk to them and they'll probably do it.
Not FOSS, but free and no ads.
Would not be enjoying Lemmy near as much without it thanks to all the great features like multi-community support and endless customization.
Summit holds practically the same quality as Sync for Reddit had... If not more at this point.
And yeah, the dev is great and very communicative, he must love his own project to be so active regarding it, and it makes sense I have tried the app since its conception and it has greatly improved.
I don't want to bash other Lemmy clients.... But I have tried nearly all of them and Summit always speaks "smoother" for me.
I agree, they definitely have to be passionate about it, and I feel it really shows. Truly shocked it never seems as popular as some others. I've given a number of bug reports and feedback/suggestions and they've all been addressed shockingly quick, and it's fun to think this or that bit is there just because I agreed nicely. ๐
Yeah I get it, it definitely is not a competition, but if it is for the sake of sharing the love then yeah I agree that this client requires a higher user base ๐
Second Summit.
jerboa.
summit is the only other client that i tried and wasn't irritated by, but I've reverted back to jerboa after a few days. i like how streamlined jerboa is, and how it just works and always has.
it looks like the summit dev is working overtime getting everything in order and finishing several feature rollouts, so I'll check that out again in a couple of months.
I have a hard time believing Summit Dev has time for a day job! ๐
I feel every bug is patched same/next day and they keep constantly adding to the feature set. There have been a ton of upgrades this year, and it was perfect to me once they added custom user tags, so now everything is just a bonus.
I like all their decisions and they take feedback in what works for us, and at this point you can turn almost anything on/off so you get what you want.
the dev seems very dedicated, that's why I'll give summit another try later. quick links don't work yet, not all the setting toggles l are functionally tied yet to the features. there are also several tiny post/link/layout issues that I notice but don't have to deal with on jerboa.
I'm interested to see where summit goes, it is the only other lemmy client I used for more than a couple hours.
I've test driven a majority of the apps at this point, and I think the variety of apps we have to choose from is impressive. They all feel pretty different too, so everyone should be able to find what works for them.
I think it was Connect I kept installed longest other than Summit and the discontinued Liftoff. I was a huge Boost fan on Reddit, but never jelled with the Lenny implementation.
me too on boost!
boost was the only way i used reddit, nothing else came close.
I can't tell what's different in the implementation here, but it does not click.
jerboa for lemmy is the closest to the simplicity I enjoyed in boost for reddit, and I do think summit merits another look in a month or two
Boost still looked nice, but the posting UI was terrible for me. I couldn't figure out how to do half the things I wanted to do, and since I became a regular poster using a ton of media and formatting, it was just a no-go.
The dev has done a lot to help with my specific use cases, and I haven't started since. I gave everything a look around the end of the year to make sure I wasn't missing out on anything, but at this point I don't feel I'm missing a thing from the experience.
I like the apps are all independent in that we can try one or all and hop between them at will without losing anything.
yea, it is nice that the devs are so dedicated to creating unique clients for us
and their work itself is so impressive.
I'm enjoying Connect
Me too.
Large pictures is one of the niceties, but it just works wery well too!
Right now, it's Thunder.
I use Eternity. AFAIK it doesn't have ads and it's pretty much what I'm looking for. I tried others but they had ads and I couldn't tolerate that.
I have been enjoying Raccoon though development might have slowed down after a previous dev. left sometime back.
Boost is a good alternative.
I like Voyager
Yep I ditched Sync a while ago for that reason. Currently on Eternity as it supports foldable devices pretty well.
Been using Avelon since the start. Is there anything better?
I'm still pretty new and I've only tried one mobile client so far. I'm pretty fond of Mlem. It seems to do what I need it to and it's pretty intuitive for me. Although it only works on iOS so that might not be useful for you depending on your mobile situation.
I really like thunder but its slower than Voyager for me. So I jump between them now and again after an update.
