Police said 98 people were arrested on charges of trespassing, obstructing government administration, and resisting arrest.

I didn't know the government was running out of a hotel now.

Given Trump thinks drawing on Teslas is an act of terrorism, it does it surprise me at all.

ICE is already detaining permanent residents. You're next.

[-] Manifish_Destiny@lemmy.world 22 points 4 months ago

So we should arm ourselves and not let ourselves be taken? Is that what you're saying?

Never go to a second location.

I have this inscribed on my soul because it is so true. If someone has a gun to your head and says "Get in the van" you risk the bullet and book it.

Street smarts!

There are many ways to fight injustice.

Yeah, the murder (and partial consumption) of the brothers De Witt was more or less the January 6th of the Dutch golden age. It's part of the reason why The Netherlands is a monarchy now rather than a republic. (Admiral is a pretty good movie about what was going on politically.)

But eat the rich, and all that!

Is one of them just bitching online while waiting for the systems that haven't being reigning in rampant abuses of power to magically start?

[-] floofloof@lemmy.ca 11 points 4 months ago

Is that supposed to be an argument against protesting?

Then I agree. There's no safe place to hide from fascists. You have to disrupt and fight them.

[-] in4apenny@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Same, dunno if it was typed to mean the opposite though. Getting plenty of excuses like this from ex-reddit libs that get salty when you tell them to go protest.

[-] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 8 points 4 months ago

it is my takeaway that our only hope of survival is the biggest and strongest coalition we can put together, and that protests are our most effective recruitment propaganda. eventually we will have the mass to do what must be done

[-] match@pawb.social 5 points 4 months ago

if by against protesting you mean in favor of more direct action

[-] in4apenny@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 4 months ago

Why else would they be trying to scare people from taking action?

[-] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

Is being scared your only response?

[-] in4apenny@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 4 months ago

Being disabled from 14 years of taking beatings from Nazis and cops at protests is my excuse. I'd wheel my disabled Graves diseased ass out to a protest again against doctors orders if only they would be organized outside billionaires homes.

[-] ArmoredThirteen@lemmy.zip 2 points 4 months ago

Not because I don't believe you I just am curious how bad it is, do you have some sources I can read?

[-] Serinus@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago

He had his green card. He protested against Israel. He's now in jail, somewhere unknown.

The judge said he couldn't be deported because he's a resident, but he's still in jail.

[-] neons@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 4 months ago

I was about to cry out how this is illegal and they should behave themselves when I realized that ICE also acted illegally.

(pseudo-)Fascists don't care about rules, laws or constitutions. You have to hit them where they actually care. Keep on going, my guys.

[-] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 12 points 4 months ago

I'd say they should have smeared their shit on the walls, but that would have been an improvement.

[-] iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works 11 points 4 months ago

You love to see it.

So many terrorists.

[-] misk@sopuli.xyz 2 points 4 months ago

It will be more uplifting if they achieve something.
