Speedrunning a permaban on my 15 year old account. How many days do you think it will take?

I deleted my 11 year old Reddit account a couple days ago after being banned for quoting The Sopranos. On r/movies. As a response to another Sopranos quote.

For most of those 11 years I had no problems then just in the last month I was banned sitewide twice (for threatening behavior, I was venting about fascists and used violent rhetoric I guess, mind you this was on a repost of that famous video of a Nazi getting punched), given this same warning you got about upvoting things they didn’t like, permabanned from r/movies (again for the same quote), I just reached my limit. Reddit was great for me for a long time but I am better off without it. I was on it too much anyways!

Banning accounts from just upvoting is insane.

One of my buddies was recently complaining about "free speech" on Reddit.

Told him it's a company and not the government, so free speech doesn't count there. He hated that.

Told him if he didn't like it to use Bluesky...he's a staunch conservative...lol

Please read the rules again so that you don't break them.

[-] misteloct@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

I tattooed their rules to my chest and I still got warned.

[-] henry1917@lemmy.world 32 points 11 hours ago

They ban u for upvoting? Not even commenting, but literally just upvoting?

[-] misteloct@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

That's what they said!

I don’t know if you saw this article, but it’s a fascinating and infuriating read, it’s about all of the Luigi censorship and the upvote policing. It’s scary as hell. Check it out

It talks about terrorist propaganda. I know a little bit about extremist groups use of social media... the tldr is social media is riddled with it. If they're saying that's the motivation then they are using that as an excuse. It's ALWAYS been on reddit p, it's nothing but a cover story.

[-] Uniquitous@lemmy.one 14 points 5 hours ago

That's why I finally pulled the plug on my 14 year old account. That Orwellian bullshit is a deal breaker.

[-] PaulBunyan@lemm.ee 5 points 5 hours ago

My 12 year old account got permanently suspended after an alt got a ban from r/entertainment for disagreeing with someone. Neither of us warranted a ban. Since I couldn’t block the sub from the news feed I accidentally commented again in the sub with my banned account not realizing the sub I was in. Then I commented with my main and got permanently banned. I appealed but didn’t get a response. This all happened over the course of a month or so and left an awful taste in my mouth.

[-] biggerbogboy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 hours ago

Same here, my 3 year old account got permabanned since my new alt got banned from r/shitpost and I couldn't filter it out so I accidentally commented on my main and, well here I am...

[-] Contemporarium@lemm.ee 1 points 2 hours ago

Haha samesies with my 12 year old account. I kept an alt for like 3 months before reddit just randomly banned it. Tried to create one more account and it got banned that day. Looked up Reddit alternatives and found this place :)

[-] girlthing 5 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

HELL YES COMRADE, FIGHT THE POWER

fr though, this is such a badass way to get banned. don't even reply to them - just keep doing the thing, post, and watch as every pathetic attempt at intimidation gets hundreds of defiant upvotes here.

[-] misteloct@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Uh yea I'm actually approaching the amount of Reddit karma on Lemmy in my first week LOL. Guess I know where all the good commenters went now.

[-] GoodOleAmerika@lemmy.world 19 points 13 hours ago

I've never heard of this platform! Where can I sign up?

[-] CheeseToastie@lazysoci.al 1 points 2 hours ago

It doesn't really exist mate, it's a joke post

[-] dadapop@lemmy.world 11 points 13 hours ago

reddit reached enshitification several years ago.

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

2017 was more than several years ago

[-] Veneroso@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

To be fair, the English language is very subjective.

Several is probably appropriate as it is under a decade?

Couple is two or more. Few is three or more. More than a half dozen.

Less than a dozen or a baker's dozen (13).

Definitely at least a bunch.

Quite a few!

Not innumerable.

Certainly not countless.

A shitload?

Many perhaps?

Considerable.

[-] PokerChips@programming.dev 3 points 5 hours ago

I would say that's about several years ago.

[-] dadapop@lemmy.world 11 points 13 hours ago

hey so i started looking at a new place because I'm tired of reddit and the people on it.... My upvotes began just disappearing. I hate to be that person, but I think I was shadowbanned. I didn't even know that was a real thing until reddit. When the little reddit guy's back is turned on your icon you're in some kind of restricted mode. Anyway, i noticed my upvotes weren't showing and someone else kinda fiddled with it with me to see what was going on. I don't know if this is related to luigi but it's some weird nonsense.

[-] misteloct@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

You sir or ma'am were shadowbanned. They want your views, not your voice. Basically you are ad revenue to them, if they ban you they lose that sweet juicy $.02 from their advertiser. They want two cents from their advertiser, just not from you.

[-] Veneroso@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

If they can pardon the January 6th hostages.....

Remember, Jury Nullification!

[-] Corno@lemm.ee 12 points 15 hours ago

Darn. I guess this means me making a Reddit account to confess that Luigi was my first videogame character crush ever is out of the question.

[-] Wilco@lemm.ee 5 points 14 hours ago

Be sure to delete your old content. They did the warning: 3 day suspension:perma-ban combo on me (all in one day), so I couldn't delete mine.

[-] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 12 points 17 hours ago

so would this work if I made a comment then edited it?

I'm thinking it would be fucking hilarious to go on conservative and get them to upvote it only to edit it to say something like, "Luigi is a hero!", then they just start banning all the bots and conservatives.

[-] brax@sh.itjust.works 14 points 18 hours ago

Fucking cowards sending out the messages from an account that you can't even reply to? Are they also sending out these messages to people upvoting /r/Conservative content? What about/r/Conspiracy?

[-] faultywalnut@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Dude one of my guilty pleasures on Reddit was r/fightporn. You’re telling me people are getting this kind of warning while the site also hosts a sub dedicated to real street fights? Fuck outta here

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

Fucking cowards sending out the messages from an account that you can’t even reply to?

Not even really cowardice when you consider how bare bones their staff is. Even if they gave a shit about users, real monetization costs money and Reddit hates spending.

[-] freely1333@reddthat.com 4 points 13 hours ago

most tech should be considered state media at this point. during covid i said something about omicron being more transmissible than the original variant even in vaccinated people (true statement) - perma banned with no warning. now if you don't immediately condemn "hate" towards nazis you are also banned/warned lol

[-] HappySkullsplitter@lemmy.world 5 points 16 hours ago

Took less than 1 for me, but it was only a 10 year old account

[-] Sine_Fine_Belli@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago

I got a 3 day temp ban on my account

[-] misteloct@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

Bastards...
