This is what you voted for protest-non-voters. Congratulations!

[-] b161 14 points 3 days ago

To us non-Americans this is a really bad look. Did you really do everything you could to prevent this? Anyway, we’re all here and we all have to deal with it now. And really, you / we didn’t start this. The wheels were already set in motion before most of our time. Fascism is the inevitable outcome of capitalism. But we must be the ones to take action and set things right and build a better world.

Do you have any evidence that "protest voters" had any meaningful impact on the elections? Because all evidence I've seen to date indicates the same voter and election fraud that's put the GOP into power for decades is to blame (purging voter rolls, gerrymandering, arbitrary rejection of postal votes, disenfranchisement)

If you don't have evidence, have you ever considered the whole "Liberals blaming progressives for Trump" is part of the multi-decade PsyOps campaign to turn Liberals against the left, and continue shifting the overton window in normalizing fascism and corporate dictatorship?

Maybe you should stop blaming the citizens who drew a line in the sand at genocide, and start blaming the political class that facilitated genocide, and continue to — perhaps rather surprisingly to liberals? — do absolutely nothing as a fascist dictatorship is implemented by their major corporate donors?

Edit. I'm Australian. Thanks for proving my point though! The liberals of L/politics are identical to the liberals of R/politics, blinded by 80 years of corporate propaganda. Enjoy your fascist dictatorship and civil war!

[-] someguy3@lemmy.world 22 points 3 days ago

Exhibit B. Congratulations!

[-] WhatAmLemmy@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago

I am an Australian, who has expected American fascism longer than half of you have been alive.

Thanks for proving my point though.

You're getting downvoted and I'm soon to follow, but everything you said is reasonable and it's almost never wrong to ask for evidence. I continue to be surprised at how tightly this community clings to the narrative that non-voters alone decided the election.

[-] HasturInYellow@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

I really think that's part of the psy-ops. Just bots everywhere down voting anything supporting unity.

[-] prole 6 points 3 days ago

Nope, not a psy op. Very real person here that downvotes this horseshit.

I haven't seen any of the obvious "data science fueled" bot activity on Lemmy that I noticed on Reddit well over a decade ago. These communities are barely 1/10000th the size of Reddit right now, and still 1/100th the size of Reddit from a decade ago. Lemmy is simply not large enough to be worth the effort for PsyOps operations.

The point of PsyOps is to run the campaigns on major "marketplaces of ideas" where they reach as many eyeballs as possible, and then the victims will repeat those narratoves elsewhere. The Cambridge Analytica CEO described it candidly in one of these. Threads on Lemmy are really just examples of the victims disseminating and perpetuating the propaganda. 99% of these comments are real people who genuinely believe the dumb shit they type.

[-] HasturInYellow@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

That's entirely possible. I haven't seen any evidence that protest votes had any significant effect on the outcome. Mostly, people seem to have been less motivated in general, as well as widespread voter suppression purging voters from all states. But anyone who is screaming at protest voters for having morals that they refuse to compromise on is not only stupid, but has lost sight of what is virtuous. Empathy is a good thing, and having enough that you cannot support those who support genocide is admirable. Choosing the lesser of 2 evils is also admirable for different reasons. Society needs both. Frothing at the mouth about people not voting for a bad candidate is ridiculous.

[-] zenpocalypse@lemm.ee 8 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Corporate propaganda?

You might be surprised to learn there was more than one group at fault for this.

The "I don't like Biden" group should have known better. At least the magats have the excuse of being fully indoctrinated into a cult.

That's why the smaller group is called out. Because they knew better.

You can't admit you were wrong then or now. Sigh. But keep blaming them. Go on. Do it.

[-] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 days ago

What are you trying to accomplish?

[-] someguy3@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago

To congratulate the non-protest-voters on their vote for this!

One of my close friends got her doctorate last year and recently hired as a scientist at EPA. She is improving methods of surveying urban soils using remote methods like ground penetrating radar, this helps to inform landowners/potential developers the true conditions of the soil they are building on. A shame the government doesn’t think that’s important anymore.

[-] b161 21 points 3 days ago

Sounds like woke DEI garbage. Everyone knows plants need Brawndo, the Thirst Mutilator. It’s got what plants crave.

[-] wynn@lemm.ee 3 points 2 days ago

It's got electrolytes...

[-] prole 11 points 3 days ago

She is improving methods of surveying urban soils

Correction, she was.

[-] delgato@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 days ago

She hasn’t been layed off yet but, yea, only a matter of time…

[-] grue@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago

The government is being run by the sorts of people who are doing the illegal dumping of hazardous waste that your EPA friend is trying to detect. Of course they don't want her to do it; they don't want to be held accountable!

A shame the government doesn’t think that’s important anymore.

Not just unimportant, sand in the gears of their capitalist steamroller. The true conditions of anything must not interfere with the advertised conditions.

[-] Ledericas@lemm.ee 6 points 3 days ago

and also the funding on research in general is going out the window, making people trying to enter stem industries all that unlikely. when its already very hard to enter stems as it is.

[-] JHD@lemmy.world 20 points 3 days ago

They need to change their name to Environment Destruction Agency.

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

[-] NRBQ@lemmy.studio 2 points 2 days ago

Guess I can tip that barrel of mercury I've had in my garage into the drain without repercussion now. Thanks everyone!

[-] Professorozone@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Should rename it to EDA( Environmental Destruction Agency).

Or Environmental Freedom Force for short.

[-] Mr_Dr_Oink@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Or "The Gulf of America"

[-] MeekerThanBeaker@lemmy.world 13 points 4 days ago

I want to know if these people truly don't believe in climate change or they know it's so bad already that nothing can reverse it... and just don't care.

[-] TheOgreChef@lemmy.world 16 points 3 days ago

They think/know they’ll be rich enough to avoid the negative problems climate change will present, or they’ll be dead before it happens. They’re writing checks that the rest us will have to cash and laughing at us as we cheer for them to do so.

[-] uienia@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

I think you are overthinking it. They don't even have climate change in their considerations, they are solely focused on the short term profits corporations can make from dismantling government regulations. That is how corporate cleptocracy works.

Incase anyone out of the know about the head of EPA: Trump Ally, Ass-Kisser, Defending the shithead during the first impeachment hearing and sworn in after being selected by Trump. There you go.

Now you can not be surprised anymore.

[-] Asafum@feddit.nl 5 points 3 days ago

He also went to the same highschool as I did. Of 900 kids in my graduating class 450 actually graduated...

Nothing good comes from that school, myself included lol
