Weird, it doesn't seem to reduce the amount of inappropriate art of their characters that much.

[-] WarlordSdocy@lemmy.world 79 points 2 days ago

100% this is just cover for them wanting to have a monopoly on the sexy content of their characters. Cause the main appeal of these games seems to be how sexy the characters are so if you could go to some other website and look at them there instead then you wouldn't need to buy the game.

Agreed, I do find it interesting they're being protective of the IP at all given that it seems they've kinda given up on it and delegated it to just being about idol volleyball for that sweet mtx money. Maybe they do intend on making another game for the franchise. Honestly they should just go all in on the sexiness instead of their half-assed attempt at making is take them seriously.

They publish games that focus heavily on getting new swimsuits for their "daughters". What did they expect to happen?

[-] Mycatiskai@lemmy.ca 45 points 2 days ago

Wellness checks to be sent to their homes to check on their real daughters?

[-] DebatableRaccoon@lemmy.ca 110 points 2 days ago

Maybe don't whore out your daughters?

[-] DdCno1@beehaw.org 5 points 2 days ago

In this economy?

[-] alessandro@lemmy.ca 125 points 3 days ago

jiggle physics daughters, to be precise.

[-] NakariLexfortaine@lemm.ee 51 points 2 days ago

From the same series that has two volleyball games.

With a focus on "social" gifting including skimpier swimwear and suggestive posing.

With a story that revolves around a rich pervert wanting a bunch of young girls in bikinis running around.

"Yes officer, this company right here: Koei. See what they said? Now look at the game. Holy shit, there's definitely something wrong, right?"

[-] ColdWater@lemmy.ca 11 points 2 days ago

I don't know who's weirder, Koei or fan artists

[-] Blackmist@feddit.uk 41 points 2 days ago

Maybe don't insist your daughters dress like that then...

Be like the guy who designed Lara Croft, who left the company when they made all the marketing for the game all "phwoar, look at that eh, fellas!"

You can't just have principles when it suits you.

[-] oji@lemmy.world 39 points 2 days ago

What are you doing, stepdaughter?

[-] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 30 points 2 days ago

2000 to 3000?

I wonder how many pictures that actually covers. 0.1%? 0.5%? 0.77%?

[-] cryptiod137@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

41,264 images tagged with Dead_or_Alive, so about 5% (rule34)

38,723 images tagged using both the English and Japanese names, also about 5% (Pixiv)

[-] alessandro@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 days ago

That implied a interesting question, which are the other 95% content on rule34 it is fine with.

[-] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 1 points 2 days ago

Well, that's a higher % then I expected, but now I wonder what criteria they were really using.

[-] cryptiod137@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

They didn't like the art style

Honestly no idea. Thought maybe it was AI gen but there is plenty of that.

[-] NoForwardslashS@sopuli.xyz 35 points 2 days ago

Everyone is trying to cash in on the incest craze

[-] Petter1@lemm.ee 3 points 2 days ago

😆they plan to make a hentai game, as I interpreted this article correctly.

[-] MonkderVierte@lemmy.ml 11 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

If i understand that right, they are characters in a fighting game?

[-] TheLowestStone@lemmy.world 29 points 2 days ago

A fighting game whose major selling point was breast jiggle physics.

[-] ramble81@lemm.ee 24 points 2 days ago

The “parents” released two games called “Dead or Alive: Extreme Beach Volleyball” (1 and 2) where they were in skimpy swimsuits and they literally had a team of developers that focused on “jiggle physics” to make sure their breasts bounced as accurately as possible. Nice way to treat your “daughters”.

On a side note, content aside, those were actually good games and it wasn’t like they were going pure ecchi, the volleyball portion and side games worked pretty well.

[-] ryper@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

There's also Dead or Alive Xtreme 3, which has all that plus pole dancing scenes and VR support.

[-] wizardbeard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 2 days ago

Don't forget the multiple modes and features that put the "physics" front and center. If I recall right from old reviews, the analog stick calibration and testing "feature" is two girls trying to balance on pool floats while you tip the floats around with the sticks, with the camera putting the jiggle front and center.

[-] alessandro@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 days ago

Yeah, they are from a fist, kick and melee combat game where they perform maneuver that would easily cripple or kill people in real life; but sex is amoral.

[-] Auli@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 days ago

With jiggle physics. I remember laughing so hard when played the original on Dreamcast.

[-] SplashJackson@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 days ago

Setting age to 99 never looked so jiggly.

[-] uriel238 6 points 2 days ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

The unfortunate implications of the daughters flex are overwhelming. Also rule 34 is not merely a rule of the internet but biology. All the critters that weren't sufficiently ~~thirsty~~ desperate to rut as often as possible died out long before simioids descended from the trees.

[-] Zozano@aussie.zone 7 points 2 days ago

Not to mention the pedo-bait character, Marie Rose.

Do horny gamers know porn exists?

[-] DebatableRaccoon@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 days ago

You know it's still porn if it's of fictional characters, right?
