Clinton, Dubya, Obama, and Trump all went into office with control of Congress and lost it at the mid-terms, so it's not unlikely that a portion of voters will flip in 2026.
They'll be back in 2028 though, when the Dems nominate Gavin Newsom and try replay this 'joy and unity' bullshit again.

If the problems that began under Biden continue under Trump, and your message isn't 100% "Come back to the Democrats. This is how we're going to make it better," along with a solid plan to actually do it, you will lose again.
