If outing conservatives for their projection materially changes anything, it will be a first. That said, I fully support this endeavor.

[-] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 12 points 2 weeks ago

The Roy Cohns of the world deserve to get exposed, IMHO.

It’s not gay if you don’t marry.

[-] db2@lemmy.world 26 points 2 weeks ago

And you keep your socks on.

[-] whithom@discuss.online 11 points 2 weeks ago

You know that straight man is wearing thigh-highs with lace. Socks, pssshh ;)

“I’m not gay, I’m just a man who really likes the taste of sweaty balls and the feel of a hard cock in my ass.”

This describes 90% of the user base on Grindr in my area.

The scariest part of this movement for me is being targeted because somebody thought I was conservative. *shudder*

[-] lettruthout@lemmy.world 25 points 2 weeks ago

I've been getting this for the last few years because I look conservative. Sigh. Seems like it will soon get worse.

My father sometimes complains that he cant wear his red fishing hat anymore, because unless you pay close attention to the different design on the front, it looks like a maga hat.

[-] Catoblepas 24 points 2 weeks ago

The red hats that say “made you look” make me laugh, but I haven’t wanted to buy one because they look a little too convincing 😔

[-] bamfic@lemmy.world 26 points 2 weeks ago

I saw one that said black lives matter, and chuckled. Well played

[-] negativenull@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

I have an old red "Redhat" hat (of the linux variety), that I haven't worn in years.

I'm 6'3, 300 pounds, built like a linebacker. Shaved head. There aren't a lot of clothes that look good on me and actually fit (finding a shirt long enough is hell). I tend to wear jeans and wife beater with an unbuttoned collared shirt in the summer, and flannel in the winter. I also tend to wear the shoes the podiatrist gives me (for now. So long medical insurance after 2025).

I have 100 percent been confused for a skin head on numerous occasions. If I'm leaving Walmart after dark, women will rush to their cars if I have to pass close by. I don't blame them. It sucks, but I'm glad they're acting on their safety over my feelings. But it does still hurt my feelings. :/

[-] MutilationWave@lemmy.world 20 points 2 weeks ago

I hear you friend. I'm 200 pounds 6' even. I'm bald so I shave my head. On the funny side rarely people thank me for my service, or more often tell me I forgot my military discount.

On the not so fun side it makes it difficult to buy drugs, and I love drugs.

[-] Forester@yiffit.net 11 points 2 weeks ago

Have you tried Carhartt shirts they tend to have longer lengths of shirts

[-] jj122@lemmings.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

I would also suggest Duluth trading. It's been my go to for a long time. Similar in quality to Carhartt but has more material options. Their dry on the fly line of stuff is 90% of what I wear.

100%, get the "tall" size

[-] P00ptart@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

If you're 300 lbs, there's no way you're built like a linebacker. 240 is about max for a linebacker. I'm 6'4 and 220. You're either muscle bound or built like a lineman.

i've never been comfortable with the usage of the term "outing gay men" in this specific fairly negative context.

their fallacy isn't being gay -- that by itself is nothing wrong and should never be associated with a public shaming exercise.

no, the problem in this scenario is their hypocrisy in denigrating other gay men for their activities while indulging in those activities themselves.

this whole series of events should be called "exposing the hypocrisy of loud-mouths" instead of "outing gay men".

[-] whithom@discuss.online 35 points 2 weeks ago

Fucking for democracy. Now that’s the kind of civil war I can get behind.

[-] Dorkyd68@lemmy.world 27 points 2 weeks ago

Just do what I do.

Step one be bicurious

Step two enable "everyone" as love interests on your dating apps

Step 3 match with cops, servicemen and tons of Latin men ( Latin men like me idk why)

Step 4 get my hole wrecked by said matches due to bi curious

Step 5.... profit???? Idk i can't really move cuz wrecked hole

[-] DarylDutch@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago

Thank you for your (buttholes) service.

[-] spector@lemmy.ca 23 points 2 weeks ago

People are turning on each other. Like those saying Latinos should out each other to be deported. Nothing but more examples of how divisive the Trump regime is. I suppose I don't have to look up how this kind of thing has happened before in times of fascism. I'll bet it's gotta be true.

[-] raynethackery@lemmy.world 21 points 2 weeks ago

If a closeted person is passing laws, making policy, or using their platform to the LGBTQIA+ community, then outing is self-defense.

[-] Resand@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago

One of us has a wrong definition of the word straight. Gay to for that matter

[-] frostysauce@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

It's all a spectrum.

[-] PugJesus@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

Thank you for your service, gay men. o7

[-] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 9 points 2 weeks ago

Careful now. Outing people against their will is how you get Peter Thiel.

[-] TheLowestStone@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago

He was already a piece of shit before he was outed.

I don't think that outing people is a good idea though. It's fine to point out that they're being hypocritical, or refuse them for their views, but outing them seems a step too far, especially if it's retaliatory.

Their being in the closet oughtn't be conditional.

The inverse wouldn't be acceptable, why would this?

[-] OneOrTheOtherDontAskMe@lemmy.world 20 points 2 weeks ago

The reverse in this situation would be a closeted queer person outing someone for being...NOT shitty and detrimental to other people?

Nah, don't out people who aren't shitty. But if you're an active republican, ESPECIALLY if you're a political configure, and you trash the gay community you belong to? Fuck em. They aren't under the umbrella of protection the moment they try to push people out from under it.
