Shutdown aside, I find it funny how discord users start with genuine sad emojis, and then POW, eggplant emoji!

piracy is more important now than ever before because fuck american companies, the billionaires that own them, and the american economy.

[-] drake@lemmy.sdf.org 33 points 1 month ago

I mean, yeah. Why are people even bothering with piracy on regular, HTTP, web sites? Of course it’ll get taken down, and legal action taken against the owner.

We need to teach the younger generations how to torrent shit

It got brought down because it shared a server with another service, which was used by some "Epstein friends" to upload you-know-what illegal material and that's what brought it down.

[-] TriflingToad@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 month ago

...aaaand this is why we get a bad rep.

really really HATE you-know-what illegal material. but the frequency it gets brought up online really makes me wonder sometimes if there are really that many sick fucks out there or there are some sick fucks out there but governments like to also claim that it was you-know-what illegal material just so that people will tune it out and not look into things too closely...

I can kinda see govmint doing that kind of thing. specialy since there were all the "for the chidrens" anti-pribacy bills they try to sneak in in the past.

You make a good point. I guess I didn't even think of that. Certainly likely.

To be honest, there seem to be many stories of such content, but not so many of such people. And I find that quite interesting. So either they hide themselves well, or there are less of them but they distribute the content widely, or as you said, the gov is simply using it as an excuse.

Specially torrenting safely. In some countries you can get fines for torrenting.

As an American, I'm scared shitless of a "piracy shield" being implemented here next year like what Italy has now

[-] Eyck_of_denesle@lemmy.zip 11 points 1 month ago

I'll be moving to America next year, I can take your place and you take mine in India.

[-] Sauerkraut@discuss.tchncs.de 12 points 1 month ago

I sincerely hope that goes well for you. I doubt Trump will let it happen, he has vowed to deport all the foreigners, but I hope things work out for you

[-] Eyck_of_denesle@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 month ago

Why am i getting downvoted, did I say something offensive?

[-] ancoraunamoka@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 month ago

Because it completely derails the topic without adding anything to the discussion

Can't answer for anybody else, but from what admittedly limited information I'm aware of there are many reasons I'd not want to move to India - Modi, pollution so bad in places you can hardly see through it at times, rampant ~~huliganism~~ hooliganism, sexism, mobs severely beating/killing people (most not even nearly for "justifiable" causes), high unemployment, castes, people still openly using public streets for restrooms, etc. Doesn't seem like it's any better than the Ununited States of America.

[-] Eyck_of_denesle@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 month ago

I just meant it in context of laxed piracy ¯_(ツ)_/¯

[-] SanctimoniousApe@lemmings.world 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

You didn't mention a VPN, so when you said "moving" I naturally thought you meant physically... ...(ツ).../

[-] Eyck_of_denesle@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 month ago

I did mean physically as a joke, i didn't think people would take it literally

[-] MaggotInfested@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 month ago
[-] SanctimoniousApe@lemmings.world 2 points 1 month ago

Misspelled hooliganism, sorry.

[-] SmokeFree@lemmy.ml 14 points 1 month ago

Can still access. This guy used to advertise his website. It's nice way to spread the site lol.

[-] theshatterstone54@feddit.uk 13 points 1 month ago

Now that you mentioned it, so can I.

Either it's back to normal, or he struck a deal with the Feds.

[-] brax@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 month ago

Sooo it's a honeypot now?

[-] Luffy879@lemmy.ml 10 points 1 month ago

I should really start setting up my Ripped movies on some torrent sites, if only I knew how

[-] lunsjentilanette@sh.itjust.works 17 points 1 month ago

It's a shame it is impossible to find out :/

[-] Fisch@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 1 month ago

Idk about public trackers but you can just upload them on private trackers. If you're not on any private trackers, I am.

[-] Eyck_of_denesle@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 month ago

You can send it to me, i can upload to a private tracker and get all the upload goodies.
