No, this is what modern graffiti looks like:

[-] DONTBANTHISACCOUNT@kbin.social 63 points 1 year ago

TY... I was getting irritated by how many upvotes this post was getting...

Like hate speech on wall isn't the same thing as graffiti... Tagging your block cause you in a gang is also not really a graffiti ...

Anyways... Thx again

Believe it or not, I posted this meme to make a joke, not because of my enduring, seething hatred for grafitti as an artform

[-] victron@programming.dev 14 points 1 year ago

The meme community disappointed you with its lack of scientific accuracy?

[-] alternative_factor@kbin.social 15 points 1 year ago

Graf is probably better than ever now, shame it's not as long lasting was in Rome. Hopefully some of the best artists pick up sculpting so people in the future might have a little taste.

Digital pictures of their work last indefinitely, just saying

Edit: To everyone mentioning that digital photos aren't guaranteed to last forever, yup: That's what indefinitely kinda means. There is no guarantee. Could last another day because the medium the only copy was stored on failed, or it could last for thousands of years because it was properly backed up in a lossless format.

[-] adriaan@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 year ago

Things stored digitally are sadly anything but everlasting, a lot is lost to time already

[-] FartsWithAnAccent@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

You have to take measures to preserve and back it up, it's definitely not guaranteed.

[-] Gold_E_Lox@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

physical printed photos of these digital images may last /s

[-] FiskFisk33@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

good luck with that

[-] Godric@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Oh yeah, some people make really beautiful art with graffiti!

[-] rumbleran@suppo.fi 3 points 1 year ago

Not where I live.

[-] VanillaGorilla@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

Both are wrong. Ancient graffiti looks like this:

[-] dill@lemmy.one 18 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Graff writers will usually cross out stupid shit like this.

[-] Maultasche@feddit.de 18 points 1 year ago

Romanes eunt domus

I am always amazed at the amount of support and outcry I hear on the side of graffiti when it comes up on the internet. Not that it often outweighs the people who say "hands off other people's shit", but the number is still much larger than I expect.

[-] DudePluto@lemmy.world 24 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

It all depends on context, imo. People should generally leave other people's private property alone. But if it's an ugly cinderblock wall downtown, some kind of drab piece of infrastructure, and the graffiti artist is actually making an effort to make it look good - it can be public art

Bonus points if it covers up a low effort ad

[-] AnonStoleMyPants@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah I guess that's the issue. It has to look good. Otherwise it's just garbage on the walls.

Most of the time it does not look good (imo of course), but of course there are exceptions.

[-] CaptainBasculin@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 year ago

If it looks good, why not, but I'm certain no one would want a poorly drawn swastika as a graffiti.

[-] voidMainVoid@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

graffito*

One graffito, two graffiti.

Not sure how true 🤔 or not; but I heard in California ( where I lives ) graffiti is a felony :(

[-] praeceptorem666@relyma.club 2 points 1 year ago

When one makes a claim like a certain group can't draw basic symbols when nothing indicated such things, its accepted in the community of behavioral analysis that it was a projection. The latter paint also has no evidence behind it

[-] Godric@lemmy.world 24 points 1 year ago

When one overanalyzes a meme, it indicates one does not spend enough time in fields, and needs to go outside. Perhaps some of the excess time online could be used to learn the latter actually is ancient grafitti.

Time outside would also reveal certain groups unable to draw basic symbols to be quite common in public places. Try it, it'll broaden your mind!

[-] praeceptorem666@relyma.club 1 points 1 year ago

If what I did takes you anything beyond 3 seconds you're mentally deficient, it appears yet again someone has projected their own mental state onto me and environment onto me. I'm a major fan of Rome and I know they had graffiti, the evidence of that specific one is very dubious, I've never witnessed people being incapable of drawing basic shapes like this either, you must be a very special type of brainlet if you're incapable of that

[-] praeceptorem666@relyma.club 1 points 1 year ago

What does that even mean. Unironic word parser just regurgitating shit it doesn't understand

[-] areyouevenreal@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago

Oh for goodness sake this is the most chronically online conversation I have ever seen. Both of you please stop arguing over pointless shit. Also telling someone to touch grass as an arguement is about as chronically online as it gets and also isn't valid given you know 0 about their life. Please just stop both of you.

[-] praeceptorem666@relyma.club 1 points 1 year ago

When one makes a claim like that when nothing indicated such things, its accepted in the community of behavioral analysis that it was a projection. You should really have a shower, I'm sure you smell awful.. Even just once a week would be an upgrade.. 🤢

[-] areyouevenreal@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

I shower plenty. Stop making shit up about people and using the same argument over and over again. It becomes meaningless when you do that.

I feel bad now for criticising the other guy when it's clear now that you're just an arsehole.

[-] praeceptorem666@relyma.club 1 points 1 year ago

Someone's coping about the fact it doesn't shower, yucky.. 🤮. How's your father? He isn't gone is he..

[-] Hyggyldy@sffa.community 3 points 1 year ago

What's it like to be a highschool troll? Must be lonely.

[-] praeceptorem666@relyma.club 1 points 1 year ago

When one makes a claim like that when nothing indicated such things, its accepted in the community of behavioral analysis that it was a projection

[-] Hyggyldy@sffa.community 1 points 1 year ago

Is this actually entertaining to you? Playing at being a pretentious snob sounds pretty boring and sad to me.

[-] Mandarbmax@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Is defending nazis online something you find yourself doing often?

[-] praeceptorem666@relyma.club 1 points 1 year ago

I'm not defending anything but reality. If you consider Nazism truthful/reality that's on you buddy

[-] areyouevenreal@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

Projection is a concept developed by Freud and comes under psycho-analysis. It's not part of behavioural analysis at all.
