Dunno about taking down the whole statue but at least take down that poem about the huddled masses causes it's false advertising.

"Bring me your tired, your poor..."

Average American:

It was always false advertising, added years after it was put up.

It swam here dummy. Everyone knows lady liberty is the first mecha ever made. That's why it turned green, from all the seaweed it had to eat.

I have it on good authority that she is fueled by ghost boogers and Jackie Wilson songs, and she’s controlled with an NES Advantage joystick. There was a documentary.

[-] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

I remember this documentary. It was narrated by Harold Ramus, Dan Ackroyd, and Bill Murray.

if you're estimating average americans' knowledge of american history, it's a pretty good bet you're overestimating it

[-] dogsnest@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

The call it North America because we're all part of the 'states.

[-] callouscomic@lemm.ee 10 points 2 months ago

That's the real question: what the hell technology were these ancient peoples using to be able to assemble something as complex as the Statue of Liberty? You might not like the answers the science points to, but it's hard to rule out aliens.

This would be better if it weren't hollow and anyone can look inside.

[-] alcoholicorn@lemmy.ml 11 points 2 months ago

Why do you think nobody is allowed into the arm?

[-] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 months ago

Show me a photo of the entire interior at once, then.
