Just actually beat Minecraft for the first time solo after playing off and on since beta...

No idea why I hadn't gotten around to it tbh

Also before that I put a bunch of time into Far Cry 6, which was solid.

[-] woteorin@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

I mean, I know why I haven't yet in spite of also having played the game since beta.

... It's because I'm lazy and hate grinding for materials.

[-] Arystique@beehaw.org 1 points 2 years ago

Building is just more fun and who needs to free the end anyway

[-] woteorin@beehaw.org 4 points 2 years ago

True Pacifist Undertale just the other day. Which, to be fair, took me something like two years to get around to doing because I was way too lazy to deal with some of the ending fights of Neutral route.

Now I have the itch to go back and play EarthBound again... Which may be related to the lo-fi Mother 2 mix that got posted earlier today over in the Music community.

That's why almost only play indie games (AAA once in a blue moon), they're short, sweet, artistic, great stories and I can finish them in a few hours! I finished Kentucky Route Zero the other day.

[-] ragnarokonline@vlemmy.net 3 points 2 years ago

Mass Effect 1 a few weeks ago. Never played it before and really enjoyed it, but eventually got sick of side quests.

Started ME2, but decided to put it down for a bit so I don’t burn out.

[-] Maddypip@beehaw.org 3 points 2 years ago

ME series is my absolute favorite! Hope you have fun with ME2, it’s a blast.

[-] UrLogicFails@beehaw.org 3 points 2 years ago

I have a tendency to hop from game to game as I get new ones on sale. Typically for me to beat them, they either need to happen to be bought worth no other new games being bought for a while after, be short enough to burn through in a few days, or need to be beaten to I can interact with other people regarding the game.

I think the last game I beat was Pokemon Scarlet, which I had to beat so I could do the raids.

[-] Arystique@beehaw.org 4 points 2 years ago

I have this annoying tendancy where I get near to the end of a game and just stop playing, ive done it 5 fucking times in fallout 4

[-] Waker@lemmy.pt 3 points 2 years ago

Same. And then when I get back to a game I have no idea what I eat doing and forgot most of the controls and feel to lazy to learn them again. So I just go play something else and the cycle repeats itself.

[-] coldv@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

That's me with Final Fantasy games. When I get to the last act, I, for some reason, just lose interest no matter how much I love it.

[-] literalskalitzlooter@beehaw.org 3 points 2 years ago

Kingdom Come: Deliverance. And I did beat, bonked so many bandits & Cumans with my mace. I love cracking their head

[-] digitalrefugee@readit.buzz 3 points 2 years ago

XCOM 2.

It was fine, but a buggy mess.

[-] erin@lemmy.sidh.bzh 3 points 2 years ago

Assassin's Creed Origins in a marathon to end Origins/Odyssey/Valhalla in preparation for Mirage (I have been spoiled about a major modern day spoiler that makes me hype again for the modern day story in the franchise and by extension I'm once again hype for the franchise after years without playing the games because of modern day story deception)

[-] Arystique@beehaw.org 1 points 2 years ago

😵 I cant even finish odyssey a marathon sounds evil

[-] PenguinTD@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 years ago

I barely finished odyssey(main campaign + one big dlc quest), the grinding is too much I used cheat engine to help me keep resource high for upgrades.

[-] TheOneCurly@lemmy.theonecurly.page 3 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Breath of the Wild. I got interested in the lead up to Tears of the Kingdom coming out. Finished it the day before. Still haven't started tears though...

[-] Steeve@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 years ago

TotK is very similar to BotW, not a bad idea to take a break between the two.

[-] gingerrich@beehaw.org 3 points 2 years ago

Senuas' Sacrifice. Absolutely great game and one of a handful that I have completed. Which is a bad record seeing as I've been gaming on computers since the late 80's 🤣

[-] GolGolarion@pathfinder.social 2 points 2 years ago

embarrassed to say it's Skyrim, well over a decade ago. I don't often beat games, as whenever my attention gets brought away to another thing, i want to start it over and try something different.

[-] CayProcyon@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

Dragon age inquisition. Due to a lack of time I also do not often finish games anymore.

[-] Oscillon@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

System Shock remake. Awesome game with no hand-holding, really interesting to play.

[-] Kovu@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

the last of us part 1 and the dlc left behind :)

[-] coldv@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Couldn't help replaying after the tv series reignited my love for it!

[-] Waker@lemmy.pt 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Assassin's creed Origins was the last one I completed. Assassin's creed odyssey I was almost done with the main story and most side quests from the base game (was trying for 100%) but I lost my save somehow after formatting my pc. So I kinda don't feel like playing it anymore...

[-] AllonzeeLV@vlemmy.net 2 points 2 years ago
[-] GaryPonderosa@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Is it running well now? I know it has some launch issues.

[-] tarryn 1 points 2 years ago

Yes much better, with the latest patch they even have it running at 30fps on Steamdeck. I have a RTX 2080 and i7-8700k and it runs excellent at 1080p, good at 1440p and passable with dlss at 4k

[-] GaryPonderosa@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

So during to formatting on my phone, I read that as "they even have it running at 30 fps" and was like uhhh....

[-] any1th3r3@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

GRIS. Such a wonderful experience, that I highly recommend to anyone

[-] setsneedtofeed@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

The most recently purchased game that I beat (aside from multiplayer only stuff like Deep Rock Galactic) would be Black Mesa. Motivation to see the overhaul of xen at the end of the game really kept me going.

I recently beat Fallout 1 again, but I was using a high intelligence, high luck gambing critical hit sniper so it was more like an experiment to break the game. I'm in the middle of a 1 intelligence playthrough and its challenging but becoming a bit routine now that I've overcome early hurdles.

[-] KerooSeta@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

Red Dead Redemption was the last game I beat, about 3 weeks ago. Currently playing Diablo 4, Tears of the Kingdom, and Marvel Snap.

Super Mario 3D World! The last few levels of it are a major difficulty spike, but I got through them!

Now I just have to beat every level again 4 times...

[-] super_user_do@feddit.it 2 points 2 years ago

Probably halo reach

[-] I_Am_Jacks_____@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Fun game, though unlike the first one, I wasn't immediately excited to keep playing for some reason.

[-] sam@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 years ago

A link to the past

[-] calaveth@infosec.pub 1 points 2 years ago

The last game I finished was Disco Elysium, before that I can't even remember. It is not a common occurence. I've played some short indie games like Death & Taxes to the end, but bigger games, maybe Dragon Age Inquisition or X-COM2 but that's years ago now. Currently I'm sort of between games, I've got a Total Extreme Wrestling save that I dabble with now and then when I have some spare time.

[-] Shadow298@aussie.zone 1 points 2 years ago

Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

Don't often finish games these days. Usually burn out on them.

[-] SeaTurtle1122@beehaw.org 1 points 2 years ago

The outer worlds, though I sorta skipped some of the dlc.

[-] insideoutside@beehaw.org 1 points 2 years ago

ha, the last game i beat is outer wilds

[-] bob_lemon@feddit.de 1 points 2 years ago

Everspace 2. If you liked good old Freelancer, this is the closest game to scratch that itch I've found so far. Combat is really good, although the world could feel more alive most of the time.

[-] Ridley@beehaw.org 1 points 2 years ago

Gato Roboto was the last one I finished, and it was pretty cute! I had started it ages ago and then wrapped it up right after finishing Metroid Dread (again), just to try and finish a few games before Zelda came out.

[-] tomcatt360@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Mirror's Edge Catalyst. It was my second playthrough, and it was so much better now that my computer can handle the poorly optimized cutscenes player. I love that game.

[-] Lojcs@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago

Dishonored. Since then playing hl2, darkest dungeon, the witness, danganronpa and don't starve. I think it's good to have games from different genres to play so I can pick one for my mood.

Last new game: Hogwarts Legacy

Last game period, Mario Odyssey again, I've been watching a lot of speedrun videos and thought "yeah I can do that" but it turns out that no, I cannot do that - finished in about 3 hours, serious props to people who can do it in less time!

[-] Xperr7@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

Pokemon Red++. Was a fun ROM Hack that just added a ton of QoL. Last original game though? Probably Scarlet Nexus.

[-] butter@lemmy.jamestrey.com 1 points 2 years ago

Factorio. And the game before that? Factorio. It's a good game.
