I think it could have been great if they hadn't stretched it into a trilogy for money. I've seen some really great 4 hour super cuts of all the films together

The fan edits certainly make The Hobbit more tolerable. Unfortunately, you can't fan edit the CGI and 48fps out of the damn movie.

I think Denethor had more regard for Faramir than most Tolkien fans have for The Hobbit movies. I know the only way I'll watch them anymore is the fan edit 4-hour cut that removes all the crap that wasn't in the book.
