It always seemed like most of the popular art on Reddit was based around pop-culture. That's not really her thing, so not sure how popular it will be here.

Her name is Dominique Marriott and she paints these with a calligraphy brush. I don't want to cross-post the same stuff everywhere, but it seems like Lemmy really needs as much content as possible at the moment. So I'm putting different pictures on different communities. Take a look at my profile if you want to see more of her work. And do say if you like it. She'd love a better option than Instagram.

Love this, it does so much with so little actually on the paper! Such a cool medium to make art with.

Yes, diversity and variety in creative expression is most welcome!

Really like how minimal yet expressive your partner's works are ๐Ÿ˜

Great beauty can be captured with simplicity and minimalism like that, I think she's doing great with this and hope she posts more!

I dig the minimalism

Thanks everyone! These comments have been so encouraging. I've now set up an account and have started posting work myself.

Lovely calligraphy style! Love it.

I had the same thought. It's reminiscent of fountain pen art.

The tattoo possibilities, oh my!

Try using Bings generate image for tattoo design. Got some really impressive results that way. For example, generate with "full sleeve tattoo in newschool style". Not all results are good, but some are. Some results were interesting, shall we say. As something to base a design off of or to show an artist what you like, it's quite good. It's not spectacular at multiple objects so keeping the keywords few seemed to work best. I tried to blend classical tattoo styles with for example Picasso's Guernica and got a few good examples that could work as single pieces. I went through 3 burner addresses experimenting.

I'm sure there are better keywords to use, but it was fun.

Sounds like an excellent way to crush a boring weeknight after supper. Thank you for your suggestions, I will certainly let the AI Gods have a say, just still love the original though ;)

Just reread my comment and realized I didn't say anything about the original image at all. I just latched on to the tattoo comment.

I am personally unable to create anything even remotely as good as OPs very talented girlfriend and the ability to create something so instantly recognizable and beautiful with just a few lines is just incredible to me. The ability to see the absolute minimally needed to convey your vision shows real talent. I like it a lot and I'm sure that many more will agree with me.

I was just trying to say that there is a way for us artistically challenged people to transform an idea in to something that does not look like crap. Sorry for not explaining earlier, I realize now that my earlier comment implies that an AI tool could create something better and that was not my intention at all. It is just a tool that can create some interesting results without the need for artistic talent. It can be a good way to create a base to convey to a tattoo artist what you want, especially if you can't find examples to show and are unable to create something that does not look like a kindergarten finger painting gone horribly wrong.

Thanks for replying and reminding me to say something about the actual post.

It's more expressive than eg. Picasso's line works. Really nice

[-] Fleeing_snail@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 year ago

It's so elegant and simple, it has exactly the strokes it needs so that the shape can be identified. I love it.

I went and looked at all of the posted works and this is my favorite. She is very talented I hope she decides to bring her talents to Lemmy.
