That is how it always goes.

Everyone kind of just ignores that runaway inflation is happening anyway and votes Democrat and Republican again.

[-] Nioxic@lemmy.dbzer0.com 28 points 4 months ago

There has not been any inflation that justifies a x2 increase in price

[-] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 16 points 4 months ago

What can I say?

Stop voting for capitalists, man. You have to step off the Democratic and Republican train if you want meaningful change.

[-] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 11 points 4 months ago

Except we can't do that right now when we're literally fighting fascism.

I used to tell everyone to vote third party, then Trump arrived... Ever since I've been voting for the dem clowns to keep the dangerous, insane people away from power as best I can.

I consider America broken right now. We can't stop to fight for ideals until we fix it. Fixing it means de-radicalising the republican party by making them lose elections and re-structure away from fascism.

[-] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago

Fixing it means de-radicalising the republican party by making them lose elections and re-structure away from fascism.

You have 40 years of history to definitively prove to yourself that voting Democrats fixes nothing.

But sure.

Go for it. Maybe in another 40 years the country will be so terribly broken that none of them wwill want it anymore.

[-] Ragnarok314159@sopuli.xyz 5 points 4 months ago

Voting Democratic Party might not fix anything, but it won’t make things worse.

Unlike you who supports Trump and fascism. Don’t worry, you won’t be saved. Realize that.

[-] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

Voting Democratic Party might not fix anything, but it won’t make things worse.

Incorrect. The next Democratic administration could easily be worse than the current.

[-] Ragnarok314159@sopuli.xyz 3 points 4 months ago

Ah, yes. So let’s vote Republican or third party and help Trump win. Certainly be better!

[-] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

Your claim was that Democrats won't make things worse. Nothing to do with Republicans.

[-] VictoriaAScharleau@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

voting for a so-called third party doesnt help trump

[-] Ragnarok314159@sopuli.xyz 2 points 4 months ago

It helps get him elected. Why the Russian trolls keep talking about voting for a third party to teach Biden a lesson.

[-] VictoriaAScharleau@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

only votes for trump help elect him.

and I've never seen anyone threaten to vote third party to teach Biden a lesson. I'm also interested in how you think you can identify a Russian troll.

[-] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 2 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Right right. You're just a completely normal everyday person that does completely normal things like create a new account solely for the purpose of telling everyone multiple times an hour, every hour, for the past day and a half to not vote for a certain candidate.

Just like everyone else.

Edit. And shockingly you stopped commenting after this comment, and it just happens to be the middle of the night in most of Russia.

Huh.

Also your use of a very traumatized person's name is disgusting and irresponsible.

[-] VictoriaAScharleau@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

your use of a very traumatized person’s name is disgusting and irresponsible.

i don't think you know as much about this topic as you think you do.

[-] VictoriaAScharleau@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

nothing in this comment seems to be a response to my comment.

[-] VictoriaAScharleau@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

Right right. You’re just a completely normal everyday person that does completely normal things like create a new account solely for the purpose of telling everyone multiple times an hour, every hour, for the past day and a half to not vote for a certain candidate.

i didn't do this.

[-] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 2 points 4 months ago

Everyone can see your comments.

I'm not going to bother responding to your spam of replies, it's obvious I hit the nail on the head.

Fuck off troll, no one wants you here.

[-] VictoriaAScharleau@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

Everyone can see your comments.

right. so they can see that you are making this up.

[-] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 1 points 4 months ago

Seriously? You can't possibly be this stupid.

[-] VictoriaAScharleau@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

calling me names doesn't change that i'm telling the truth and you are not.

[-] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 1 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Yup. Keep replying multiple times to me, psycho.

This must be the longest you haven't mentioned Biden in two whole days! I'm a little proud of you. Good job, kiddo

[-] VictoriaAScharleau@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

I assumed you had blocked me.

[-] VictoriaAScharleau@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

do you know how I know you don't really care about my username?

[-] VictoriaAScharleau@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

calling me names doesn't change the validity of anything i've said, nor does it bolster your own claims.

[-] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 1 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Whatever makes you feel better.

goodbye.

[-] VictoriaAScharleau@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

Edit. And shockingly you stopped commenting after this comment, and it just happens to be the middle of the night in most of Russia.

it's the fucking weekend, weirdo.

[-] VictoriaAScharleau@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

pearlclutching about my username due to supposed mental health impacts and at the same time using normative language shows disingenuity, or maybe plain hypocrisy. i suppose it's also possible that you simply don't understand these issues, or some other explanation, as well.

[-] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

we're literally fighting fascism.

Have you seen how pro Palestinian protestors are treated?

Have you crossed the thin blue line?

Fascism IS here. We are only voting for our preferred flavor.

[-] takeda@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

In the USA third parties make no sense until we change voting from FPTP to for example RCV.

I similarly got fooled in 2016, and while my state voted for Hillary, I still regret voting 3rd party after realizing that with FPTP the only purpose of a 3rd party is to steal votes from your 2nd choice.

[-] keyez@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago

Got any information on how to do that that is actually actionable or helpful?

[-] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

It's not. It would only help if Greens somehow get enough to qualify for public election funding, which isn't going to happen.

The last 40 years have also taught us that, no matter how bad things get, 99% of voters will pull the lever for Democrats or Republicans.

I'm shouting into the void and I know it, but people deserve the criticism since they insist I'm throwing my vote away while theirs signifies knowing and active approval of fascism.

The only thing you can do to help yourself now is put every cent you have in the stock market, because the fascists will do their very best to make sure that survives, being that their wealth is wrapped up in it too.

[-] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 months ago

lol crypto will eat the stock market

[-] Ragnarok314159@sopuli.xyz 5 points 4 months ago

I would rather buy pallets of TI-83’s than crypto.

[-] PopOfAfrica@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago

Inflation. Price gouging. Under capitalism its a distinction without a difference.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

Anti-price gouging laws can be passed without an entire overhaul of the system.

I'm a socialist, but I'm realistic about it and I know what I want is probably not going to happen in my lifetime.

[-] barsquid@lemmy.world 11 points 4 months ago

The person who came closest to being elected as a third party candidate was a racist former VP running on a platform of supporting slavery no matter what SCOTUS said.

[-] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago

And the person you want me to vote for has sat on his ass for the last four years watching the cost of groceries double and triple, gasoling costs pass the $3 mark permanently even in the poorest parts of the country, housing costs nearly doubled, and written blank checks for other countries' wars, even if said country was openly committing genocide.

Oh, and what did he do when Roe was repealed? He used it to fundraise. That's it.

Your candidate is a fascist, and does not care about your wage slavery.

[-] Custodian1623@lemmy.world 11 points 4 months ago

Yeah, the alternative is worse on every point. I thought you were going to reply talking about advocating for third parties down ballot which can actually change something but nope, back to the amnesiac take of telling people to give the presidential seat to the 30%+ who vote straight republican

[-] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

You just sat through a Democratic presidency, with congressional control, that impoverished you in every way, including the right to your own bodily autonomy.

Instead of making sure you eat, they wrote blank checks for other countries' wars.

It's honestly impressive how little you care about your own welfare. You're right. It's a moral imperative that I vote for your fascist and not the other guys' fascist.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

I'm one of those weird people who doesn't want to see a dictatorship where queer people are marched into concentration camps, but you do you.

[-] Got_Bent@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

I've tried to figure out to whom you're referring, but I can't find it. Who are you talking about?

[-] barsquid@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

That one was John C. Breckinridge, he got 72 out of 303 EC votes. The winner that year was Lincoln, with 180 EC votes. I am stretching the truth because he wasn't really third party, it was a split party.

[-] toddestan@lemm.ee 1 points 4 months ago

Considering that Lincoln was the first Republican president and at that time the Republican party was just a few years old, it could be argued that a third party actually won the 1860 election.

The Republican party sure has changed a lot since then.

[-] Valmond@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago

Can I have some genocide sauce with your comment please?

[-] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 12 points 4 months ago

You may.

In fact, Genocide Joe is up for reelection, and if the Republican candidate wins, don't worry, the policies on Israel will be exactly the same.

You get genocide no matter who you pick.

[-] Valmond@lemmy.world 7 points 4 months ago

Well thats the "joke". Troll bots pretend biden is "pro" genocide but trump not etc.
