Party demands Christian Ziegler’s resignation after he was accused of raping woman he and wife had a prior relationship with

White man with blue suit and red tie. The Republican party of Florida suspended chairman Christian Ziegler and demanded his resignation during an emergency meeting Sunday, adding to calls by governor Ron DeSantis and other top officials for him to step down as police investigate a rape accusation against him.

Ziegler is accused of raping a woman with whom he and his wife, Moms for Liberty co-founder Bridget Ziegler, had a prior consensual sexual relationship, according to police records.

Innocent until proven guilty, even if the guy is a Republican.

You think R's would force him to resign if the allegations weren't credible? They openly support and defend known pedos ffs.

[-] MindSkipperBro12@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

People love to fire people based off of an accusation, no matter how credible or not it is, just so the group can protect their PR.

Do you mean like when trump was found guilty of raping that woman in NY? They're going to have him as their front runner.

[-] Telorand@reddthat.com 9 points 10 months ago

Or commiting insurrection (see the judge in Colorado who's too afraid of Trump's mob to enact the 14th Amendment).

I watched that live and saw his lawyers, that was a ridiculous decision based on what the lawyers presented.

[-] ImpishCook@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Yeah like isn't Matt Gaetz a registered pedo ffs

Christian Ziegler has not been charged with a crime and says he is innocent, contending the encounter was consensual.

He doesn't deny having sex outside of marriage.

The republican party often won't shut up about "family values" and related.

The couple have been outspoken opponents of LGBTQ+ rights, and their relationship with another woman has sparked criticism and accusations of hypocrisy.

Yep. Yep.

I hope he hangs. And his wife, too. Scumbags.

Well shit, you got me there. I just read the headlines.

And if it never gets a court date that means he’s innocent right? If the DA chooses not to prosecute, that means no crime ever happened, right?
