Sucks we can't build sidewalks, curbs, any part of a train, or green energy to do anything that's not an atrocity.

Indeed, China does all those good things, plus the surveillance state on top. In Shenzen for example there is apparently hardly a public space left in the city not covered by face detection and people tracking cameras.
