Is his name genuinely that close to Glaucoma or is it a "stage" name. If real, I think that's wild he chose to become an ophthalmologist.

It’s a stage name. His real name is Will Flanary and Glaucomflecken is a medical term:

Glaucomflecken are small, gray-white spots that form on the front layer of the eye’s natural lens. They are the physical scars left behind when the eye has suffered a sudden, severe spike in internal pressure, typically due to an episode of acute angle-closure glaucoma.

Flecken is German for spots. Glaukomflecken just means glaucoma spots.
