when they ask for small government, they do not mean lowering the scope of the government functions, but having less people who have more concentrated powers, and removing checks and balances.
Nothing says small government like the bigger government telling the smaller government no.

It was meant for economic stuff. Same with how they pursued "economic individualism" rather than "self expression", even if some young conservatives think otherwise.
What's crazy is that I read “economic individualism” and immediately think of solar power, composting toilets, salvaged building materials, minimal new construction - basically all the eco-hippie-shit they rail against.
That's what they demand from leftists unironically, they might even link you some YouTube channel about that.
Economic individualism is more like you don't rely on the state.
