World News
A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF OCTOBER 19 2025
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

People not wanting blood on their hands is not an endorsement of Republicans doing more of the same.
The only reason you even frame it like that is because you can't defend a party of mass murderers on their own merits, so you have to compare them to Republicans to absolve your own complicity.
In a binary system that's the way it goes. It sucks, but that's the reality we live in.
Good job helping Trump win.
Children... 😞
Didn't Mom and Dad teach you about the US system of government? That a vote is for a better option not a perfect option? That you're voting for the public benefit? That it's sometimes about just keeping things from getting worse?
"I didn't vote" means your didn't do even the bare minimum thing you could have done to have stopped Trump. You're culpable.
I won't be talked down to by people who are fine with the mass slaughter of children. You voted for that. That makes you culpable, so go fuck yourself.
Americans are fine with foreign kids dying and committing a genocide elsewhere, they draw the line when their rights are under threat.
They love empire. Every second of it. In their minds the worst thing about imperialism is not the extraction of resources nor the mass slaughter of women and children, but that every once in a while the other imperialist party gets to take credit for it too.
Don't you have 5th period math to get to or something?
🥱🥱
The smoothest of brains.
🥱
Thank you for identifying who you are. I appreciate it when lemmings do that. Like the guy yesterday defending Elon musk. Now I no longer need to wonder if y'all have anything valuable to say.
Funny how nobody has actually challenged anything I said. They just default to insults, lectures and holding me personally responsible for Democrats shitting the bed.
It looks like you're more of the same in that regard, but if you're going to ignore me you might as well contradict yourself by announcing it loudly and proudly I guess lol
Probably because we thought through how ludicrous your argument was 20 years ago. Before you were born.
And all this was discussed ad nauseum from 2023-2024. We don't need to prove any of the basic 4th grade logic to you.
It's not really a hard concept that I said I'd ignore your future ramblings. It's for the benefit of other people thinking the same.
I'm actually past my 20's, but thanks for the lecture anyway 👍
😬
No, say what you want to say it.
It's pretty cringy to have these 16 year old type beliefs as someone much older than that.
Well, unlike you I don't believe it's the pinnacle of adulthood either to outsource your conscience to parties that take no responsibility for their policies.
I consider it thinking like a young child to be unable to accept basic realities
I think you talking down to fellow adults like children says a lot about how you view not only adults, but children too.
I sincerely hope you don't do that in real life.
In the first past the post system in the US, it is absolutely the same.
