You can’t just up and leave the military any time you’d like. You have to have a significant mental breakdown and end up in a psych ward to get out easily.

[-] GreenBeanMachine@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Right... The only option is to go kill innocent children in the name of a pedophile, smh...

Americunts and their values never cease to amaze me.

[-] JustAnotherKay@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

I don’t think you realize what I’m saying. You have to literally attempt suicide in order to get out of the military without waiting out your contract or removing yourself from society.

Like, they need to be able to visibly see that you have attempted to kill yourself, and even then you have to convince them that it was real.

Would you cut open your arm right now to prove a point?

[-] GreenBeanMachine@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

No, it is you who does not understand. Why would you mutilate yourself? When you wake up in the morning, just continue sleeping and don't go. Get a new job. Hell, even some jail time is better than killing innocent children in the name of a fascist pedophile.

It seems that many Americans have this unary thinking. Like you have one and only one option, which is to obey the fascist pedophiles.

Ever heard of resistance?

[-] JustAnotherKay@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

I have heard of resistance. I resisted.

I was in the military, I refused to go to my deployment. They confined me to my ship until I attempted suicide.

You’re an asshole, and you don’t know as much as you think

[-] GreenBeanMachine@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

All good then 👍

Go kill some school girls for your pedophile president.

[-] JustAnotherKay@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

You’re the reason the world is how it is

[-] GreenBeanMachine@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

American soldiers are killing innocent children in the name of a corrupt fascist pedophile, while Americans sit and watch. But of course it's my fault.

American wisdom right there - it's anyone's fault but mine.

I am so sorry for your inconvenience, it must be difficult when the whole world turns against you, because your country is committing atrocious war crimes and raping the world. How dare the world blame Americans for that, when their elected government is doing all the shit. /s

[-] JustAnotherKay@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Blaming America is totally reasonable.

Blaming random individuals just because they happen to live there, with no consideration for what that individual has done, is nationalism. You believe you are superior just because of the nation you’re from. Thats not a good position to hold.

[-] GreenBeanMachine@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Blaming America is totally reasonable

Ahh, so convenient to distance yourself from the government YOUR people elected, TWICE. If things go great "We are the greatest nation on earth" , but when things go to shit "oh, it's not our fault, it's the government".

You don't even know where I'm from and what I have been through, not that it would change anything if you did know.

Americunts are just weak, selfish, over privileged cunts, who only ever think of themselves as the highest beings on earth due to all the brainwashing, and you love to play victims when things go to shit.

Honestly, I am really fed up with the American victim mentality, when you are the ones fucking up the whole world.

WAKE THE FUCK UP, YOU ARE NOT VICTIMS. YOU ARE THE EVIL.

You elected a corrupt pedophile TWICE.

WHAT. THE. FUCK. IS. WRONG. WITH. YOU.

"oH bBb...but i DiNT vOtE fOr tRUmP"

I feel as much sympathy for Americans as I do for Russians or Israeli zionists. You are all fucking cunts complicit in evil crimes.

[-] JustAnotherKay@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

You don’t even know where I’m from and what I have been through…

And it literally isn’t relevant to this discussion. However, you not knowing shit about me is relevant because you are casting judgement.

You don’t know if I have protested, or how I did it. You don’t know if I sabotaged things while I was in the military. You don’t know shit. If not for the fact I told I used to be in the military, you wouldn’t even know whether you were talking to an adult. Could you imagine saying what you just did to a literal child in real life? No, you’re protected by your anonymity which allows you to say whatever you want without repercussions.

You’re assuming I am weak-willed and haven’t done anything because of the nation I am from. You’re casting judgement on a person, not through the lens of reason but through the lens of hatred.

You are a hate-filled person who cannot see beyond a flag to see a human being. You are actually just as bad as the people who put Trump in power, and talking to people in the way you do will encourage them to be even more apathetic instead of getting them to do anything. You are literally helping Trump stay in power by shitting on Americans alongside him, instead of encouraging Americans to do something. Make sure to send him your invoice, bro

[-] kcweller@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

You went into the military, knowing full well the military is primarily used to oppress others.

You ARE weak-willed.

[-] JustAnotherKay@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

I signed my contract as a literal child who had been fed propaganda for their entire life. Once disillusioned by the reality, I fought for an entire year to get out so that I could avoid going and doing precisely that. I had familial and societal pressure to join.

I literally attempted suicide to avoid actually being used to oppress others. I’ll ask you the same question I asked the other - would you slice yourself open as a protest against the unjust or would you just hide behind a keyboard belittling people who have actually fought this government?

[-] prole 1 points 1 day ago

Or you could just go AWOL and accept the consequences?

[-] mech@feddit.org 8 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

You can simply refuse to deploy.
No need to mutilate yourself or attempt suicide.
Just say "No, I won't go".
You'll get a letter telling you where to meet your unit. Don't go there.
Or if you're already with your unit, don't get on the plane.
Maybe you'll spend a little bit of time in a jail cell, but even that is exceedingly rare.
Most likely, you'll just be dishonorably discharged to get you and your opinions away from the other soldiers as quickly as possible. You will then have to find employment with someone who doesn't care about that.

[-] JustAnotherKay@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

German instance

Knows more about getting out of the American military than me

I literally did that. I told them I wouldn’t go to Japan. They confined me to my ship until I attempted suicide.

You are not all-knowing.

[-] 0_o7@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

It's honestly been refreshing yankistanis losing their collective minds and threatening to leave fediverse, when faced with a different opinion that isn't stroking their predisposition and ego.

The fragility of so called stewards of "freedom of speech", when they're out of the platforms catering to their faux supremacy.

[-] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 5 points 2 days ago

That's a massive generalization. Yes, america is full of ignorant assholes. That doesn't mean every american is an ignorant asshole.

[-] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 4 points 2 days ago

Or get pregnant, if that's a possibility for you...

[-] prole 3 points 1 day ago

This is why they're really scared of mpreg

[-] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 day ago

There is no true equality in the world until men can get pregnant

[-] JustAnotherKay@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Getting pregnant will not get you out of the American military, just out of a deployment

[-] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 3 points 2 days ago

False. When an active duty service member gets pregnant, she is given an option to receive a medical discharge.

[-] JustAnotherKay@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Interesting. I knew so many pregnant sailors that I just assumed the option wasn’t given, never applied to me. Now I know

[-] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Yeah, a lot of them choose to stay in because they derive a sense of meaning/purpose/job satisfaction from it, and also because civilian life is hard by comparison.

I mean yeah, waking up at 5AM every day sucks, having to stay in shape sucks, being held to strict discipline, conduct, and grooming standards sucks, being told what to do by people who are often dumber than you sucks, having to stand 24-hour posts once a month sucks, having to do annual qualifications and tests sucks, et cetera, but...

Having most of your bills already covered so that you don't have to think about them is kinda nice, making a steady paycheck with cost-of-living adjustments and continuous growth is kinda nice, having guaranteed 30 days of PTO per year is kinda nice, having medical and dental covered is kinda nice, having a guaranteed place to live (even if you don't get to choose it or your roommate) is kinda nice, having a chow hall where you can eat three meals a day is kinda nice (even though you technically pay for it when it gets deducted from your paycheck, but you don't really have to think about that).

Come to think of it, it's a lot like communism. Actual communism, not the botched attempts we see so often in history.

Of course, now with the whole [gestures at everything] going on, I'm sure the calculus is a bit different. Can't say what's going through anybody's minds right now...

[-] Professorozone@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Not anytime no, but I believe this was his third tour of duty. Depends on the timing.
