Family and neighbors have told media outlets Maria had a restraining order against him because he allegedly had been harassing her. Her uncle posted a statement on Facebook that the driver had allegedly followed his niece to her home for months and the police were notified, but nothing was done.

Other articles have indicated that he later live-streamed a statement about the murders on his gaming stream with tens of thousands of followers. He reportedly made comments about one of the girls on his livestream, targeting her for making disrespectful comments about Charlie Kirk.

The alleged killer is the son of a police officer and related to a local police chief, which some have claimed contributed to the lack of police action against his months long stalking.

There are other countries that have free mental health hospitals and prisons that aren't horrendous that are publicly owned. They're doing it right.

Examples please. 🤦‍♂️

The Netherlands. Very low incarceration rates, publicly owned prisons, mental health support for all inmates, mental health checklists for reintroduction jn society. Results: low crime rates, low spending.

Norway is an excellent example.

This has been hashed over millions of times. Look to Northern Europe for your answers.

You could have just said “other countries, like Norway,” but you wanted this argument. We all know who you are.

I love the dude coming in making baseless statements and then asks everyone else for examples.

Google it dude, it's not a secret.

Google also shows many of those countries failing to do it, and canceling programs.

I know. FYI, Cuba has free healthcare.

[-] whiwake@lemmy.cafe 1 points 4 weeks ago

Yeah… I wouldn’t take Cuba’s healthcare if they paid me.

[-] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 weeks ago

You might want to rethink that. I think their life expectancy is higher than the US.

Criticism

The preceding study also pointed to problems within Cuba's health system, including:

  • Low pay of doctors.
  • Poor facilities—buildings in poor state of repair and mostly outdated.
  • Poor provision of equipment.
  • Frequent absence of essential drugs.
  • Concern regarding freedom of choice both for patient and doctor.

Well, other than that last one. 😂 we have plenty of drugs!!!!
