I have mixed feelings about him. I have listened to a lot of different interviews with him and I truly believe that he believes in everything he says and does 100%, which to me does count for something. The problem is, I think he's completely delusional and his proposed solutions to America's problems are just doubling down on failed Clinton era policies without examining what is actually wrong with the system and society that created Trump in the first place. His proposed cause for the collapse of neoliberalism is that we just didn't do it right and need to just do neoliberalism harder. It's like he just mainlined episodes of the West Wing instead of doing any kind of introspection.

Cory Booker, unlike most politicians in general, does seem to be someone who actually has a set of guiding principles that he follows. The problem is that those principles are incredibly misguided. In a pre-Trump world I probably would have loved someone like Cory Booker as president but the world has changed and it's become a lot clearer that neoliberalism is a failed ideology that just leads to more inequality.

Ok, fair enough.

I still feel responsible for Bush Jr, as when I was younger I believed in the protest vote, but I'll never make that mistake again. If Booker gets the nomination he'll get my vote, because the lesser of two evils, until we fix our voting system. I still hope Democrats field a better candidate to root for in the primaries, although from the reaction to Mamdani we've observed, I suppose I shouldn't hope for much.

I'm still not certain there'll be a next election, so it may be moot.

A well thought out critique…

All I needed to know about him was he endorsed Eric Adams for mayor.

Having seen him come up from Newark, I've been disappointed with him. He tries to portray himself as progressive, but he is really fucking centrist at times and has made a lot of compromised votes that don't reflect his rhetoric.

I found it interesting that someone who grew up in Newark said that they preferred the previous mayor who was arrested in corruption charges.
