Given the absolute state of the tech industry and AI bubble, they're probably smart to go for the salesman who can polish whatever turd they can find in the cesspit rather than any of the actual AI researchers who will continue unsuccessfully beating their heads against a wall trying and failing to make ~~fetch~~ AGI happen from the currently-in-vogue paradigm.
