Well buying used book does not give jkr one penny, watching dvd does not give and algorithm engagement, amd any old offline game will not either.
disengaging from the franchise altogether has the added effect of not helping to keep it culturally relevant to JK Rowling's benefit.
c'mon dude. it's kids' books. it's lame kids' books. it's the macaroni and cheese with dinosaur nuggets and chocolate milk of fantasy series, except it's the lame off-brand macaroni and the breading is soggy and slides off and the "chocolate" milk is carob water.
rowling is a hack and a monster, you owe yourself better than that regurgitated tripe.
lol, this ironically won't go over well with Harry Potter fans, you won't be changing hearts and minds - but you're kinda right. I think I love Harry Potter because it was an important part of my life, but of course looking back I can see you're right - still, I eat some foods not because they're good but because they're nostalgic or comforting. Harry Potter is like that, and I'm not sure an overly dogmatic or purist approach will be best for gaining followers and broad suppport. Though you're right ๐
I also liked Twilight and that didn't age well either, maybe I just have shit taste.
"please dont eat the magic poison pudding, it's bad for you and also magically kills us when you eat it."
"well that just makes me want to eat it more then, haha!"
"no dude seriously like it's really really bad for us and is also bad for you in these specific ways. look man there's all this good food right here, and there's even other pudding that doesn't kill us when you eat it."
"well i like the poison pudding so i'm going to keep eating it even thought it's bad for me and terrible for you."
which of these people is being "purist" and/or "dogmatic"?
i don't mean to begrudge people for liking their junk food (and i also have junk i enjoy that is so bad my wife won't tolerate it). but hp is a special case and i'll never not go hard about it, because rowling's influence is at such scale that this is very quickly becoming a matter of life and death for trans people.
