Sadly the US never ratified the UN's convention on the right's of the child which is why the US has some of the worst abuse and control of children to this day. Really says something about the US mindset, huh?

Not that other places necessarily fair much better as not seeing children as people is kind of built into the system, but at least there are technically laws in some places against some of the worst stuff that can be done to children.

@oftheair @frustrated_phagocytosis In the US, there are also organisations which propose the reduction of safety nets for teens and young adults like the FGA, which is also on the board of advisors in the Project 2025.
