From Federal News Network Blurb:

Agencies have 10 new deadlines around artificial intelligence, including developing a new generative AI policy and a new strategy to remove barriers to using these capabilities. A new 25-page memo from the Office of Management and Budget lays out a series of new requirements and updates existing ones as part of the Trump administration's promotion of AI. One of the new requirements is agencies have until early December to develop the generative AI policy that sets the terms for acceptable use and establishes adequate safeguards and oversight mechanisms. Another new requirement is to develop a strategy by early October that removes bureaucratic requirements that inhibit innovation and responsible adoption of AI.

You may remember back in Feb. when the U.S. and U.K. both refused to join allies signing an international A.I. agreement

From the BBC article: Earlier, US Vice President JD Vance told delegates in Paris that too much regulation of artificial intelligence (AI) could "kill a transformative industry just as it's taking off".

Vance told world leaders that AI was "an opportunity that the Trump administration will not squander" and said "pro-growth AI policies" should be prioritised over safety.

Peter Theil protege and director of Trump's Office of Science Technology and Policy, Michael Kratsios was approved via senate confirmation last month and will be taking the lead on AI policy.

Trump has asked Kratsios to "blaze a trail" for science and tech supremacy

Kratsios was also Trump's acting director during his previous administration

These people aren't even giving us the minor concessions. They're actively taking away the shit that we are more than entitled to and exploiting us at every opportunity while reassuring the people that somehow still don't see the truth that eventually there will be a big pay off for their continued loyalty.

It's like just sit and wait patiently in this burning building. I'll be back to rescue you eventually. I understand it's getting hot, it's a little uncomfortable for all of us right now. I know you want oxygen, but I NEED this oxygen mask so I can save us all from the fire I started by fucking around with these matches.

Many of us have been aware of this for a long time, but keep cheering news of filibuster record breakers that accomplish nothing for anyone but the puppet masters and we cheer. The politicians, media and faith leaders are to keep us divided within our selves, communities, faiths. When we collectively accept the truth we've all known since time immemorial, the sooner we come together to create the world that works for everyone, including current billionaires, animals, vegetables and minerals. Or we stay divided and seek to exclude because they did this or they're not us. They are.

Well when they want to work together instead of grinding us up and using us for biofuel we can talk, but until then I will stay angry and be demanding they give back all the shit they are stealing from me, which was less than I deserved to begin with.

No one is saying you don't have a reason to be angry. I'm angry. We need to channel it constructively, because if we make them an outgroup, they will study their mistakes and come back stronger, as always. Have you ever heard the adage, "keep your friends close and your enemies closer?" It exists for time-proven reasons.

Fediverse vs Disinformation

1174 readers

Pointing out, debunking, and spreading awareness about state- and company-sponsored astroturfing on Lemmy and elsewhere. This includes social media manipulation, propaganda, and disinformation campaigns, among others.

Propaganda and disinformation are a big problem on the internet, and the Fediverse is no exception.

What's the difference between misinformation and disinformation? The inadvertent spread of false information is misinformation. Disinformation is the intentional spread of falsehoods.

By equipping yourself with knowledge of current disinformation campaigns by state actors, corporations and their cheerleaders, you will be better able to identify, report and (hopefully) remove content matching known disinformation campaigns.
