I doubt that George Lucas did any real worldbuilding for his stories. He might have taken some notes and scribbled down some ideas, but if he really ever had some serious worldbuilding behind his movies, he sure managed to totally wreck it on the screen. It is a total mess of inconsistencies, to the point that I disagree to apply the term "Science Fiction" to the Star Wars franchise. It simply is a kids fairy tale wrapped in a space ship-shaped trench coat.

No, not even that. Like SciFi, Fantasy needs world building. Something that GL never did. Dont insult Tolkien or Sanderson by calling Star Wars "Fantasy".
Yeah, I've said for a long time that Star Wars is action/adventure with scifi dressing.
