What choice do we have? Leftists stayed home during the election because of gEnOcIdE. So now democrats don’t have enough elected officials to do anything. Thanks leftists!
I voted for Harris. I'm scared shitless because I'm a trans woman
And I'm really fucking tired of posters on Lemmy blaming the left for not voting for more genocide and more center right politics from the Democrats.
If the Democrats want leftists to vote for them, they can start running on leftist policies and start running leftist politicians. Instead of running center right politicians on center right platforms.
They need to fire up the voters so that people want to vote for them. Instead their whole game is be scared if we lose. And blame voters for our loss.
It doesn't inspire confidence and neither has the last two months since the election.
And comments like you post, that are just parroting the Democrats platform of blaming their voter base, when they don't know how to inspire that base...
It's getting old. And judging by all the downvotes on you're comment, I guess it's getting old for a lot of other people too.
This is why leftist keep losing elections and their legislation doesn’t get passed. They refuse to work with other ideologies and they don’t have enough voters to accomplish anything alone.
Democratic Party is made up of people the voters chose. Many of whom are moderate.
If leftists can’t get enough voters to change that, it won’t change.
Politicians don’t cater to groups that don’t vote.
Nah, they just cater to their corporate donors and folks that would never vote for them. Sliding more right every year and expecting everyone to hold their nose.
And then you want to blame leftists, when this is an alt account my main is on hexbear. Most real leftists I talk to voted for Harris. Because we're not idiots.
But keep blaming us that the Democrats ran a shit campaign chasing Republican voters and corporate campaign dollars, while neglecting to get their base off the couch.
Because of Citizens United, this is a necessary evil. You either get donors or you lose from lack of funding.
Look at the progressives that lost recently because AIPAC out funded their competition.
Voters had to chose between two candidates, one on the left and one on the right. Voters chose the one on the right. Meaning not enough leftist showed up to vote.
Leftist don’t show up to vote > voters chose the option furthest right > leftists learn nothing, blame democrats and do it again next cycle.
All right you can spend the next 4 years blaming the left.
In the meantime I'm just going to remind you that in 2016 a populist left-wing candidate ran a very good primary without any corporate donations. Leftist policies and platforms are popular. And giving people the choice between center right and far-right doesn't motivate voters.
That choice was made by the voters.
