Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF 10/19
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

Few people argued for Trump being better. Biden bombed Gaza to rubble. Trump comes in and does the paperwork. Biden is not absolved.
Biden didn't bomb Gaza genius.
I must have imagined those American bombs dropped by American made planes being sent by Biden.
He asked Netanyahu nicely to not carpet bomb Gaza with them. That absolves him of it all.
I must have missed the part where Biden was put in charge of Israel's military. You .ml folks are simpletons. 🙄
Come on, don't act like you don't know what he mean. He just mean thst Biden he is responsible by giving arms and diplomatic protection so Israel can bomb gaza
I know what he means and he's wrong and so are you. Israel bombed Gaza. Full stop. Biden never had the power to stop it. Want to be angry at someone, choose the military industrial complex at the heart of America's economy. The president only works for them, no matter his name or party.
Yeah he have no power at all to the point of bypassing the congress to give melitary aid to israel.
Well thank Jesus it's all fixed now then, with Biden gone.
Nobody said that idiot. You gave dumb excuses of biden support to israel. So stop acting like you ever cared about palestinians
🙄 so in your little mind, Biden says "fuck you Israel. Not a single bullet more." And magically Israel stops bombing because they.... Ran out of bombs and ammo?
It would have accomplished exactly nothing. Israel makes their own decisions. Nothing Biden could have done would have stopped anything. If you think otherwise you are simply naive.
Look at how you contradict yourself. You claim that biden can't do anything because Israel make their own decisions and that the military controlling presidents but then say because trump is going to make Israel do worse things to gazan. Please stop act like you are smarter than everybody who disagree with you
Answer the question.
And stop putting words in my mouth. I never said Trump had any power in Israel either.
To answer your question yes, i think so. Even if it doesn't it is the right and moral thing to do.
You said that presidents has no power biden was president and now trump is. How can't you not understand somw basic deductive reasoning ?
Neither Trump nor Biden controls bombs in Gaza. You do have a point that it would have been the moral choice to take a stand. My point is that it wouldn't have made a difference in reality. I'm not happy about that but it doesn't change the reality.
Then you're ignorant of both history and geopolitics.
Israel is a client state, full stop, of the US. Reagan made one phone call and ended the war in Lebanon.
In fact, Israel institutionally, does not know how to end wars, because they've never done it. The US has always ended their wars for them.
Israel has received a full third of all foreign aid the US has ever given out. It isn't a state on it's own. It ceases to exist and will go bankrupt almost immediately without the US.
Your whole 'Biden couldn't force them to stop' schtick is either bad faith or ignorance of every aspect of the history of that region.
There is a reason that Trump didn't stop foreign aid to Israel and Egypt when he froze it everywhere else. Neither state would continue to exist if he hadn't.
Age took him. You are pretending to want something you cant have, cranakis. biden was practically drooling into the camera in the last year of his term, and was 'sundowning' hard. He wont live another 4 years, much less be able to perform any job.
If Israel relies on US weapons, then yes the US has the power to stop it, by not supplying the weapons.
We know the weapons are going to be used for genocide. Supplying them is as good as pulling the trigger ourselves.
As abhorent as it was transferring the sales of weapons to IL it should also be made clear that Israel absolutely does not rely on the US. They can at any point go down to the next shop and get what they need. The issue is the US wants to exert it's influence in the region so will go to great lengths to be the top shop. Make no assumptions about the US being the only shop in town.
It sure seems like we're the only shop in town when we stood alone with Israel in blocking the numerous UN resolutions against this genocide.
We were a minority for sure. But UN resolutions don't mean jack anyway but I hear ya.
UN resolutions created the state of Israel.
Eh, was a little more than a resolution that created the state. Cmon now.
You're right, it was also terrorism and the slaughter of civilians.
There you go. You get it. UN resolution had the least impact let's be real
Is Trump in charge of Israel's military now because that's the only way for your comment to make any sense.
No Netanyahu is n charge of Israel's military. That is my point.
Cranakis,
https://www.axios.com/2024/05/13/us-presidents-red-lines-israel
Eisenhauer, GHW Bush, and Reagan all stopped Israel's zionist violence dead cold with phone calls, in pretty much this exact same situation. Its well established history that you either aren't aware of or wont acknowledge-- neither possibility reflecting well on you.
The US is in charge of Netanyahu.
Trust me bro
It's not 'trust me, bro' when it is public fucking history. It's just you being ignorant to the point that if someone sent you links they would have to be posted with 'let me google it for you'
Asking for proof when someone says the sky is blue doesn't do anything but make you look stupid or bad faith.
When I was younger I played Skyrim, it seemed very unrealistic that NPCs though the wind shot them with an arrow, but seeing you I think they had quite good AI actually
"Hur durr, I gottem."
In no way shape or form am I defending Biden here. His position was indefensible.
