Is self-identified cis people getting HRT a thing? I'm genuinely curious, I assume it's all DIY, right? In any case, that was a wild ride

[-] CrystalRainwater 2 points 3 days ago

Think some HRT femboys do consider themselves cis. At that point tho imo it's just a matter of personal labels since they are definitely non conforming

[-] psivchaz@reddthat.com 36 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah a cis dude might get testosterone if his normal testosterone is low. I assume there's something similar for women. I don't think that's what this guy is talking about though.

It's fairly common for women to start taking estrogen post menopause because their estrogen levels drop, and that can cause issues like losing bone density. I believe HRT was originally developed specifically for that reason, and it was only later that they tried using it to treat gender dysphoria.

But in this case, they specifically call out being a femboy on HRT, which I think pretty clearly says that they're on estrogen for that female figure. Whether it's DIY or just informed consent is anyone's guess, though.

That's one possibility I thought off, but there's another one: He says he's straight, but doesn't mention being cis, so he could be a trans man taking testosterone (HRT isn't necessarily estrogens).

she is just an egg for now, in denial i guess.

That's not rare,

[-] Nikki@lemmy.world 16 points 2 weeks ago

lets not egg people its not nice

[-] EdgeRunner@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 weeks ago

Well, For me as transgender person, it's like a compliment ,

No bad meaning here, sorry

[-] Nikki@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

even if the intentions are well meaning, egging someone carries the risk of misgendering a cis person. be supportive, but respect what people currently call themselves until they tell you otherwise

You are true,
Be prepared for the next,

But, even you are true ? Should I, really be worried about misgendering cis-people on a shitinternet post ? As MTF, i would say, i really don't care XD,

But again, you are true, and i'm wrong.

[-] photonic_sorcerer@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 2 weeks ago

Right, because some rando on the internet knows more about this person than he does himself.

[-] EdgeRunner@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Find its own gender can be a process. And each is unique. He/she, that's not what matters after all.

And you can see my other reply next to ,

Sorry, English, you know...

Was a joke, maybe bad, my bad ...

wonder how some of the greedier telehealth hrt providers (not naming names but it's all on Google) would react if someone straight up said "I'm cis but want to be more attractive to a certain demographic, gimme the femboy pills". I'd give 70/30 they'd eventually agree.

p.s. personally I think hrt should be maximally cheap and sold over the counter.

[-] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago

That’s something informed consent should permit. “Here are the effects, do you want them?”

[-] recklessengagement@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago

I know a straight cis femboy who wants to take HRT - I dont fully understand it, but I respect its his right to do what he wants with his body and identify however he pleases.

Some people just want more customization options I guess

[-] Sybilvane@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 weeks ago

They never said cis, did they? Could be a transman.
