My prints often get this almost “fuzzy skin” effect in areas of the print closest to corners. (No I don’t have fuzzy skin selected in the slicer). My first guess is over-extrusion. Prints come out otherwise functional, but ugly as sin. Any advice is appreciated.

Kind of an oddball question, but it fits here, I think?

My main interest is that I want to be able to use CAD/3D modeling to design firearm frames and things of that nature, and then also be able to take those 3D printed prototypes eventually to metal (maybe).

Does anyone know if SDI would be a good option to learn those skills? Or are there other courses/schools I could look into to get better at the 3D modeling side of things? I’ve heard from a few sources that say SDI is a sham for learning real gun smithing, but I really am more interested in learning online the CAD side of things, and then maybe learning the actual manufacturing part later.

A bit of background, I’ve been 3D designing for a while(1-2 years), I started modeling my woodworking projects and now moved to designing 3D printed stuff. I’m currently active duty, so the school would be free, it would just take up more of my time. TIA!

Started a DeAR 22 build that I'm quite excited about for my 15-22 so far really impressed with the design.

one thing that it did make me think though is anyone has ever tried using a motor like a stepper motor instead of a spring? I kinda imagined a small stepper motor powered by a 18650 cell controlled by a tiny arduino or something might give fully customizable tension - has anyone done anything like this?

I’m not sure If this is what it’s supposed to look like on certain areas the bed appears to be level. It’s an ender 5 pro I’ve had nothing but issues with attempting to make sure the bed is level, and calibrating everything.

This is my first post as I just got my printer but does anyone have any recommendations for this print? There’s a lot of filler that isn’t stuck to the rest of the print. Everything else is almost perfect except the bottom. I’m using a flash forge 5M with a 220C extruder temp and a 2mm layer I believe.

Does anyone possibly from the community have some decent optimal settings to get started printing only PLA + as well as PA12-CF as I have a Ender 3 V2 fully upgraded but I also have a Anycubic Kobra 3 although I’ve heard the Ender 3 v2 is a way better choice?

Doesn’t need rails, SOLID competitor for the 43x, parts kits are all over, there are a bunch of grip length options you could work on. Why has nobody worked on something for the Hellcat/Pro?
I’m still slowly learning CAD working 50+ hours a week with kids, but I’ve always said that it’s going to be my first project once I learn enough.

Working on a Masterpoint and 10 hours into the print I had a power outage. Tried to restart the print at work and checked on it only to see a major layer shift. Figured I’d have to reprint it anyways, but still sucks.

Gunbusters does misc parts lots weekly of what seems to be all the leftovers that didn't sell. Usually a lot of revolver parts, some barrels, and rifle bolts. Sometimes random handgun slides etc

I've see some eventually go for ~$200-250 but this week's lot is at $480 in the first few hours. Any experts can tell why? On GBroker search "1097705828"

I am looking for advice for a beginner. I have 3d printing experience and experience using firearms but not building them. I am interested in making the 3dp90 but am unsure on the feasibility and all the required parts you need to purchase/modify. With the guides to files are the instructions easy to follow and the parts easy to source and install? Am I biting off more than I can chew with this model and is the a more beginner friendly PDW I can start with? I am not interested in the Glock clones even though they seem to be the simplest. The P90 is just so nostalgic and feels like a fun project. Also could someone give a ball park cost I should except? TIA

Hello. I’m new here, and somewhat new to this scene. I have a fully working G19 FMDA build, so I wanted to build a G17 / 34. I have the frame and lower parts assembled, but for whatever reason, this slide (ROCK SLIDES G34 GEN 3) will NOT slide into the frame. Even if I lower the slide release pull tab when trying to get it on, it will not pass and will not load onto the frame. On two occasions, I got it onto the frame by priming the trigger before hand (no idea why this mattered or helped) and then I could not get the slide back off; even with the slide release tab being pulled down. I had to disassemble the whole lower to get the slide off the rails. When it was on the rails fully one time without priming the trigger, when I cocked it back, it did not prime the trigger and there was no action. The only thing I can think of is the slide being the problem, but I don’t know why. Does anybody have any insight at all?

Frames are sirayatech PPA-CF CORE and are immaculate.
