... and people get mad at me when I say this now bog standard, seemingly literally standardized anime art style is uninspired, boring, and fundamentally problematic.

I am not a history major, but I got a 5 on AP US History... and have degrees in Econ and Poli Sci.

Basically, the last 10 years for me has been everyone I know thinking I am literally insane.

And then roughly 90% of what I was saying would happen, has now happened, within +/- 2 years of when I said it probably would.

None of them have bothered to apologize for being wrong, emphatically, derisivesly wrong, about basicsally everything, so, fuck em, and fuck this country honestly.

Almost all our cars and all our major manufacturers are awful, any American that knows anything about cars knows this.

Just overpriced, shittily constructed, designed to fail right after the warranty expires fucking 'luxury' garbage... Ford broke GM's previous all time record for how many recalls they've had to issue this year...

... and that was in July, with half the year to still go.

American manufacturing is fucking joke.

(Well, outside of firearms, we're still fairly good at that, what a surprise.)

I also would rather buy a Chinese car.

I guess Trump is actively trying to scare off Hyundai... hopefully Toyota and Honda stick around... also pre-emptive RIP to Nissan.

Translation:

Powell won't let me crash the bond market and cause hyperinflation (in comparison to foreign currencies, at the very least), and that makes me MAD!!!

Seriously, if Trump somehow gets his way and rates end up being cut down to 0-1%, the US will basically immediately see a whole bunch of failed bond auctions, and then the only 'solution' is hyperinflation.

This is extremely common rightoid behavior, even at a personal level.

Make a big outward show of being independent, self-made, wholly responsible for your own success...

... and the reality almost always is that this person is in fact getting subsidies or assistance or help from a wealthy friend or family member, but, they're lying about this, and very often mismanaging the money, which is 'ok' in their minds, because 'nobody knows' that money even exists.

...

Every Republican voter who is on welfare, but hates everyone else on welfare.

Every Republican business owner who gloats about being successful all thanks to themselves publically, but privately, amongst close friends, laughs about how good they are at manipulating their taxes or legal business structure so that they can get as many tax breaks and subsidies as possible.

Or, the 'dumbass' variant of that:

I'm a big tough hard blue collar worker who works real hard and real tough, and thats the right way to have a life and make a living... wait, what? That only even kind of works if the corporation I work for gets massive tax breaks and subsidies, or my own company gets tons of Federal grants and subsidies and tax breaks directly? I thought that was the free market?!

Also every 'entrepreneur wunderkid' story that ultimately boils down to: daddy gave me a whole lot of money and also knew a whole bunch of key figures in relevant industries.

... every mega church pastor that is very obviously fleecing their impoverished flock, but claims that they are so wealthy because god loves them so much.

... every rightwing raido talkshow host / podcaster who gloats about how successful their business is, but never mentions that they get a massive, stupidly large amount of money from wealthy right wing individuals and/or lobbying groups/think tanks... or by selling scam health products, scam financial products, etc... or, more recently, just literally gets directly funded by Russia's FSB.

...

It is literally a core tenet of being a Republican that you lie and gaslight about where your money comes from, or at bare minimum be just actually so stupid that you don't even realize where your money comes from, so I guess those ones arguably not intentionally lying... they're just actually too stupid to be trusted with any kind of non rote task.

Like it is essentially impossible to be a Republican and not do this. Its a fundamental aspect to their personalities.

Hence why it is just a social faux pas to even have a frank and transparent discussion about finances with them, and why they get so blustered snd indignant when the idea of 'fiscal responsibility' is applied onto them, instead of just projected outward as a demeaning attack on everyone else.

Thats my 2 cents anyway, from having grown up in a rightoid, fundamentalist family. Of course this behavior is not unique to Republicans, but it is essentially a mandatory requirement of being a Republican.

I got 135 once as a kid, and then as an older kid, younger adult, studied up on and learned many of the flaws with IQ testing, one of many being that... you can study for them, and perform better.

That's not supposed to be possible if it is measuring some kind of fundamental, inherent quality about you that cannot meaningfully change.

So... I actually tinker around in Godot.

Whilst looking around to see if anyone had, or was developing an extension I would find useful...

I discovered 'Redot'.

Basically, there is a small but very vocal group of people who are very, very angry that a Godot community manager made some pro LGBT, inclusive twitter posts, turned that into a culture war flare up on twitter...

And then forked Godot.

To make the anti-woke version of Godot.

Their youtube channel has, as best I can tell, absolutely no descriptions of any substantial differences from... you know, an actual game engine feature set perspective.

Beyond of course being behind Godot now, lol.

What they do have is a bunch of rants about politics and edrama for their 'non-political' game engine.

Also... they pronounce Redot as Re-Dot, hard t.

Godot is Godot as in Waiting for Godot.

Go - Dough. God - Oh.

The t is silent.

... of course these idiots are literally uncultured and have never read the screenplay or seen the stage play, so they have no idea how to pronounce the word.

Could have gone with Re - Do, or Re - Dough, those would have been closer, the first at least an obvious allusion to them being a Godot fork.

But no. Re Dot.

Hi, actual leftist here.

Is Newsom a garbage person, a slimy politician with no real core beliefs, who just tight rope walks a balance between the desires of his constituents, and his wealthy donors?

Yes.

Can garbage people actually do the right thing from time to time, be on the right side of an issue?

Also yes.

Keep it up Newsom, this is the kind of 'fuck you, make me!' energy/vibe/whatever we need to actually have a shot at resisting Trump from within the system, instead of basically being completely on our own.

Maybe this will be a genuinely radicalizing experience for him.

...

I would love for there to be an actual, formal, 'legitmate' body or group of people actually, effectively, resisting Trump, instead of wringing their hands and complaining about how powerless they are.

Politics is the game of acquiring and wielding power.

Sitting down and crying about how you don't know what to do is cucking yourself, and makes all your supporters into simps for a cuck.

Sorry to use the colorful language, no kink-shaming if thats your thing in the bedroom, but that is how I feel, and being a simp in the context of politics and governance is... not the place for such behavior.

If on the other hand we get some actually useful resistance from 'legitimate' officials, well then that means there might be a chance at 'legitimately' reaisting... but its going to mean a whole lot of libs are gonna have to learn how to actually play hardball the way Republicans have been the last 20 years... the way Gavin is here.

... Ok, that is legitimately impressive, from a technical standpoint.

Lua is a high level, not exactly very 'fast', very performant language. It is designed to be very, very human readable, and coding noob friendly.

Getting a 3D physics engine to work ... in lua... is not something I would have thought possible.

Usually you need to use a much lower level language to ... actually do that.

EDIT:

A few other commenters have now pointed out that this is actually using LuaJIT... which passes Lua code to a C compiler, quickly translates and then compiles in C, and then runs in C.

So, that makes much more sense, its functionally running in C, a lower level, compiled code language.

Still impressive nonetheless!

[-] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 76 points 7 months ago

Well that is both terrifying and also impressive.

Embrace.

Extend.

~~Extinguish~~. Extract rent now that everyone lives in / depends on your proprietary ecosystem.

I'd say they can't keep getting away with it!, but history shows they clearly can.

Literally monopolist strategy 101.
