I'm not sure. He might be learning the wrong lessons from the Hogwarts Legacy situation, and assuming that there are more Harry Potter fans who like Rowling than who hate her. He might be right, but it takes considerably less commitment to buy a game than to watch a season of streaming television. How many antiwoke fans are really going to watch a whole season of a Harry Potter show just to spite some terminally online Twitter users?
Keeping her involved somewhat isn't a terrible choice if you want to stay true to the source material, but it doesn't make much sense to speak so publicly about the partnership if your end-goal is to have as many viewers as possible.
That said, WBD is now profitable (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/warner-bros-discovery-streaming-profit-2023-q4-earnings-report-1235832538/) so maybe they have some breathing room to eat a loss on this project.
Look, considering you don't know what wokeness is, I'll spell it out for you: wokeness is critical theory, which states that, among other things, inequality is inherently bad or wrong, and must be rectified. You don't need to adhere to critical theory to observe that such inequalities exist though.
You can learn more about Critical Theory here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critical_theory
Or about critical theory applied to race, commonly known as Critical Race Theory or CRT, here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critical_race_theory
That's my serious answer, with everything you need to know. After this we can be as silly or goofy as you like.
His approach to discourse is admirable. He's woke, which I'm not a fan of, but he's respectful and has so much empathy for people who disagree with him that one can't help but respect and admire that.
Why do you want to debate your husband about Rogan's talking points if you yourself are having trouble arguing with them?
The studios are feeling the squeeze so I expect a deal to be struck by Tuesday
I think they want to end things soon, otherwise there'd be no point in coming back after dinner for more negotiations
I don't know if that's what's happening. I disagree with the decision but I can understand wanting to continue to give your non-striking employees work.
The funny thing is I think Disney is on the brink of selling half of itself away to random entities
White People trash will always do good at the movies
This is so hilariously wrong that it's hard for me to take this seriously. I don't know of a recent movie that bombed that didn't have a predominantly white cast.
Absolutely. The details are a lot better than the headline. The actors seem happy with Angel Studios, so it's not like they're being mistreated, and based on the terms, Angel Studios must agree to whatever terms the unions settle on once the strike is broken.
I would actually to see indie studios like them continue to make content so long as they treat their talent well, it sticks it to the big studios and leaves them in the dust while also giving writers, actors, etc. jobs in this interim period.
As a conservative myself, NYP and Fox News messaging doesn't represent the true values or positions of the GOP base.
While most Republican politicians support continuing to fund Ukraine with no end, most Republicans are at most cautious of that idea, if not opposed to it altogether. There's a big reason why the GOP presidential candidates were trying so hard to convince the audience that funding the war is a good idea.
