Sounds like the right move. A game with a cult fan base like this is relying on positive word of mouth to bring new people in.

Locking 2 factions behind a day 1 paywall when the game already has shaky PR was a death sentence for the success of this game.

I would stress that it's unlikely this was a Dev decision, likely the publisher wanted these parts of the game nickel and dimed.

Steam review scores are more robust than what 20 games critics thought about a game and is more resistant to review bombing than metacritic. The score is not meaningless IMO.

Urgh, I really like the Ori games and was looking forward to the new one once it came out of early access. Not anymore unfortunately. I don't even care about representation in games, but this is just blatant transphobia.

I know a person from my town that defended himself for murder and refused a lawyer because "they weren't there, how could they know what happened!?" He didn't get a lite sentence.

I've got half a mind to buy on GOG instead, just to get some more assurances around access in the distant future when Gabe passes. Steam just provides such a better service with controller support and the reviews though.

This will at least be an epic part of a future video.

Does anyone believe we will ever Act Now? We need massive, fundamental change to our current capitalist society. Impossible to do so without revolution or global societal collapse IMO.

I completely agree with you in principle for people who want their software updated, but there is some software that is standalone and doesn't depend upon changing codecs/APIs etc. Something like myfitnesspal or a thermomix shouldn't be a subscription, there is no major updates to how someone tracks their exercise uses a hot blender that justifies it beyond users being locked in.

In the example of thermomix, you've already paid top dollar for the hardware, getting locked out of functionality you've paid for stings.

Boogie2988. I thought he seemed like a reasonable, unbiased person when I was watching around 2016. Kind of just moved on with my life after realising he was just following YouTube drama.

Have checked him out in the last year or so and it's not looking good for him. The really sad thing is that he could have just taken his money and lived a chill life, but he seems to want a spotlight and to feel important even if it's because people are shaming him for being a washed up b list youtuber.

I think people just genuinely don't know that firefox (and I suppose Safari) is the only true alternative browser i.e. Not based on chromium.

I do my best to transition people I know across, but people are retty comfortable on chrome. If ad blockers stop working, I think there will be people who care just enough to switch.

Ah yes, a perfectly normal thing to do after I've previously spent thousands on my NVIDIA GPU and am just getting into Linux. Love this comment when it comes up.

I remember ps3 emulation a few years ago was determined too hardware intensive, nowadays it can be done on mid level hardware. PS4 and Xbox One is going to happen, just depends on when.
