I discovered that VLC isn't so good at playing .flv files. This are video files that are saved in the Adobe Flash Video container format. I have some episodes from cartoon series which I downloaded years ago. Sometimes there are no playback issues with VLC, but sometimes the audio track is delayed. For this reason I have installed IINA, but I like VLC's user interface better.
Not discovered in the past year, but in the year before that:
Blender (program for 3D modelling, animation and rendering)
cobalt.tools(web-app for downloading video or audio content from youtube and other websites)
VLC (media player that plays almost everything)
Well, reading all the answers makes me realize that there might have been a kind of evolution when it comes to TV remotes. I just didn't come across back lit remotes when I saw them with people in my social circle. Maybe my people just don't have the latest TV set.

The thing that bothers me whenever I see a TV remote is that there doesn't seem to be a remote control with illuminated keys, like on a computer keyboard. That way you can see the buttons even under dim lit conditions. Also, why aren't there any remotes with a built-in battery that could be charged like a smartphone?
I don't own a TV, but I know that back in the days of bulky CRT TV's there were some remotes that could be iluminated. White LEDs weren't a thing back then, so they used incandescent lamps which drained the 9V battery fast.
Why aren't back llit and rechargeable TV remotes a thing today, especially because white LED's and batteries are quite efficient today?
Das schlimme ist, dass VW wahrscheinlich damit durchkommt, wegen der ArBeItSpLäTzE. Dieses Unternehmen testet gerade aus, mit welch dreisten Forderungen man noch an Staatshilfen und Gesetzeserleichterungen herankommt, ohne etwas an der eigenen Haltung (vor allem: Martkausrichtung) zu ändern. Das große Glück von VW war, dass der Abgasskandal zumindest in Deutschland keine nennenswerten Einbußen mit sich gebracht hat. Sonst wäre es schon viel eher eng geworden.
Es ist ja nicht so, dass VW gerade Verluste einfährt - die Gewinne sind nur nicht so hoch ausgefallen, wie erwartet.
VW hat sich schlichtweg verkalkuliert: Völlig überraschend hat sich herausgestellt, dass die Leute kein Fahrzeug zu den gegenwärtigen Preisen anschaffen wollen oder können. Zusätzlich wurde an der Nachfrage vorbei produziert. Gerade bei Elektroautos wäre es doch ein kluger Schachzug gewesen, zunächst Klein- und Kompaktfahrzeuge auf den Markt zu bringen, die vor allem preislich attraktiv hätten sein können. Aber das hätte kurzzeitig die Gewinne und damit verbunden die Dividende geschmälert. Auch das Thema Reichweite wäre durch kleine Fahrzeuge entschärft worden, da solche Fahrzeuge eine geringere Leistungsaufnahme haben als Oberklassefahrzeuge. Bei annähernd gleicher Akkukapazität hätte man die Aufladevorgänge bestimmt halbieren können. Das hätte ein Kaufargument sein können!
Dass VW im Moment so dreist auftreten kann und solche Forderungen stellen kann, liegt auch daran, dass das Land Niedersachsen Anteilseigner ist. Die Dividende von VW ist bereits im Haushalt eingeplant.
Wenn VW das mit der Lockerung der CO~2~-Vorgaben durchbekommt, dann stehen schon die nächsten vor der Tür und wollen ähnliche Erleichterungen: Bei der Meyerwerft gibt es ja auch bald Staatshilfen, um den Bau von umweltschädigenden Kreuzfahrschiffen von einer Werft im Landesinneren aufrechtzuerhalten, auch wegen der Arbeitsplätze. Und als nächstes kommen RWE und Konsorten und fragen an, ob man nicht weiterhin Braunkohle fördern kann, da das Dorf ja eh schon weg ist.

The real issues lay much deeper: A growing number of refugees and asylum seekers that want to work, but are prohibited to do so, but at the same time these are competing in an already tight housing market. Raising costs of living, growing inequality, growing envy and a part of the population which is on the brink of shiftig into a nazi movement, with a growing resentment to foreign people. It takes more than putting up a sign that says that weapons are forbidden beyond this point to solve these problems.
Also, in Germany there is no reason ever to walk around with waepons. Compared to other parts of the world it is pretty safe here.
Putting up a sign that states that weapon are forbidden would have the same impact as putting up a sign that forbids wild fires in the forest or flooding near a body of water.

I think it is important to have cash as a backup.
A couple of years ago there were some issues with card reading terminals in Germany. Due to a faulty security certificate these card reading terminals were not operational for about a whole month. Many stores were affected, because they almost all use ones from the same manufacturer. The only reason why it wasn't such a big deal was that people were carrying cash around anyway and were able to switch the method of payment easily. Having cash worked as a backup.
In the future there will be only one age-verified person left, who downloads every day and distributes porn on thumbdrives. Then, in order to "protect the children", some group of concerned Karens will enforce a ban on USB ports.

Dieses Phänomen wird immer wieder auftauchen, sobald sich etwas ändert. Es wird ein bisschen rumgezetert, aber letztendlich arrangiert man sich damit. When changing lanes or turning you are supposed to use the turning signal before doing the manouver. The turning signal is supposed to warn other drivers that you are going to do something. It doesn't make any sense to use the turning signal when already mid-turning or while already changing lanes. Many drivers don't seem to know that.
The funny thing is that said .flv files could be played with VLC without any issue at the time I acquired them. I downloaded a bunch of cartoon episodes in this file format back in 2010 (?) when once-click-hosters like Megavideo were a big thing then. I was able to play them with the then current version of VLC without any problems.
Since then there were several updates with VLC and some time along the way it suddenly didn't work that good anymore. I might add that this file format is not very common today (it was, when Adobe Flash was still around), so today there might be no incentive to maintain any old codecs for these type of files any longer.
When it gets worse with dwindling playback compatibility I probably have to acquire these files with a more recent file format (e.g. .mp4) in the future.
