Has YouTube experienced enshittification?

Ummm, only for the past decade?

Why does it have to be LMG of all places to use lemmy. Linus is not the cool tech guy anymore, he's just another corpa boss who prefers profits over people and accuracy.

LMG has a long history of overworking its workers, plus reports of sexual harassment and bullying...

He belongs with spez and all other profit shitheads the fediverse is supposed to be free of.

My favorite linus quote (when asked why he didn't properly test a product for a video):

I don't know if I can apologize for not spending another $500 of various people's time.

Now that authy has fucked us over with this, what should I move my 2fa codes into, any recommendations?

Unfortunately I can't use aegis on iOS/windows, does keepass have this functionality?

This is a common pattern in content creators. As they grow their goals shift into running a production machine that maximizes earnings, throwing away any values or standards they started with.

Just look at LTT/LMG. It's not gonna get better, so you could watch someone else who still values things other than money.

Today most Invidious instances are experiencing very harsh ip address rate limiting, it is becoming very very hard to watch yt videos through

AFAIK this is not what's happening this time. YouTube slowly rolled out a change over the past 3 days that requires some sort of app verification for the android yt app. This is affecting Invidious since it emulates the yt android client to fetch video streams. This affects invidious instances hosted privately as well.

The maintainers are aware of this, and are working on ways to solve it. Tools like yt-dlp/newpipe still work because they have working implementations to fetch data by emulating web/iOS/etc clients.

If the team is finding out that their job ends on the same day, it's totally Google's doing, and not the vendor company.

Google loves cheap, disposable workers, that why half of their workers are contractors.

The worst thing is that there are many bootlickers out there. Worker rights are a joke and companies have infinite ways of fucking you over.

In this instance the HR snakes were caught with their pants down and looked like imbeciles.

But for example many people get placed on PiP with unrealistic goals, or harassed by management over petty mistakes. The only goal being saving the corporation some money by claiming low performance.

A lot of people out there need to get their head out of their asses if they think this is ok.

This is a bigger issue to leave it to users imo. Like lemm.ee admin said a few months ago, threads is too fucking big.

Anything they push on the fediverse will be what users see in All. Plus, popular stuff on threads is determined through Facebook's algorithm, and it will also determine the fediverse recommendations by consequence.

The above is solvable if you block them I guess, but by default it will completely ruin everything.

However, lemmy 0.19 block feature doesn't work on users of an instance, only posts hosted in an instance. Add to this that Facebook is a cancerous company making all its money from ads. Expect their bots to comment and make posts pushing ads on all instances.

All of this will also mean high workload on mods to regulate the content. Threads doesn't bring anything good here, and defederation is probably the only way to protect us.

specifically for being on board with intentionally making content seem like CSAM. That's a long, long step beyond the subject of an image just looking less than 18.

Do we actually know the community was about? I haven't seen anything remotely as described on lemmynsfw. I have no clue as to how the admins here ran into such a thing.

We also don't know what the admins talked about between themselves. I'm not buying it. Seems more likely that the admins here personally didn't like whatever that was, and added the CSAM label to stop any discussion (cuz if you raise any question you must be a pedo right?). It's their instance they can do as they please.

Another more feasible thing is that they just don't want to deal with NSFW content. Just like Reddit & imgur did under the guise of 'protecting users'.

Both of those seem way more likely and with precedent than admins of a server willingly fostering CSAM-like stuff

Are they expecting to fool anyone?

The CEO called them landed gentry, even while mods run reddit day to day for free, and the admins told them to fuck off and eat all the shit changes.

I'd like to peek into the brain of whoever made that post and look at all the mental gymnastics going on in there.

At this point probably not saying anything would be better?

Those who are still on the 'apple bad' train like to forget they are running an OS built by an ads company.

Every phone manufacturer has some bad shit, I choose to stick with apple cuz I already have a big library of paid stuff.
