I think Brave New World is really a cut above most of the other dystopian novels. The themes of conditioning and being overwhelmed with work, games, drugs and sex so much you don't care about anything else are incredibly relevant in the current era.

Yeah, no. Fuck my hate filled, transphobic parents and Kool aid drinking ultra conservative siblings. They knew exactly who they were voting for, and they can get fucked.

We need to inspire people.

This. Exactly this. Non-conservatives haven't had anyone to vote for for years, only people to vote against. Biden was anyone other than Trump. They thought that would work for Kamala, but here we are.

Related, when I tried to volunteer for the dems, all they wanted to do was have me make phone calls. I think in got an invite to knock doors like 2 days before the election. I tried to contact people several times to see how I could help energize the base or make sure people were registered and ready to vote. They kept asking me to make calls and send money. Now people like me are going to be directly hurt by these policies, the only question is how much.

Something you might benefit from is practicing with an "increased cognitive load" - basically doing something that uses your brain while also speaking. It can be difficult at first, but eventually, it helps with being able to use your voice without thinking about it.

Existentialism, and Camus in particular have a lot of influence in my thought patterns. But to Camus, love was one of the central pillars of deriving meaning from nothingness.

And I don't have that.

In fact, I have significantly less love than before.

I have people that say they care, and in the moment, they mean that. But at the end of the day, I don't matter enough to check in on, unless I warn them.

I just thought for the first time in my life I would be celebrated and appreciated for who I am.

But the reality is, no matter how much they front or posture, the "normals" will never accept me.

I could offer them salvation on a silver platter, and still be met with disdain.

So, again, what's the point? What's the point in trying?

It's why papers in college have word limits - you need to be able to pick what's most important and make your point.

That's what I did last night. Complimented outfits, hair, shoes. I had my pride pin on (necklace, technically), but no one wanted to engage more than just saying hi.

I'm not anti gay, I was an STI nurse for a few years. Anal sex for ANYONE carries a higher risk per interaction, regardless of whether you are the receptive or insetive partner.

My point was not to label all people having unprotected sex as needing PrEP, or only gay people as needing PrEP. My point was to look at the types of sex you have, with the number and types of partners you have, and take a realistic look at what kinds of risks for STI transmission any of those have.

For instance, if you have lots of unprotected oral sex with strangers, you aren't going to get HIV. You might get another STI, but HIV is virtually un-transmissable via oral sex. But someone reading the comment might get scared and think they need to take PrEP.

I am 100% with you! CeraVe is definitely not a bad option, but once I was able to find Cetaphil in my area I started using it and haven't looked back.
