Nothing can stop… THE ANIMAL!

I’m also feeling scammed, and I used to mod this channel.

Things started seeming fishy to me when Steve never responded to any of my messages or used any of the support tools I put together for him.

I ended up resigning my mod position a week or so after release. I wasn’t too shocked when the development ceased.

I still have Bean installed but mostly use Voyager now.

Now that I’ve had the chance to try both (thanks to fisco@lemmy.ml), I can say that Mastadon seems more familiar to me as a former Twitter user. Despite being a Twitter spinoff, Bluesky seems to be trying to reinvent the flow of things. I’m not quite sure how hashtags (or their equivalent) work there.

I’m not sure which is better yet, as I’m too new to Bluesky to really form an opinion, but those are my initial impressions.

I’d like to see the National Weather Service and local government agencies start posting to one or both though, as weather and traffic are the only reasons I look at Twitter anymore, and I’d prefer not to support it at all.

I expected the punchline to be “Because if it was an automatic, you wouldn’t need instructions!”

They just missed their target of adding enough to power a flux capacitor…

I’m definitely looking forward to messaging in Bean! I did get 2 crashes while browsing my feed in compact mode, but was unable to replicate intentionally.

Just an FYI to testers, currently, you are not charged for any of the purchases. They are just dummy purchases to test out the infrastructure (you will see this noted on the screen when attempting to purchase Bean Pro). That being said, I'm ready to make that lifetime Pro purchase for real when Bean hits the App Store.

With the go-live in the App Store fast approaching, with it comes the frenzy of support questions that inevitably come alongside the launch of a new app or platform.

I’ve been doing IT support for 20 years, and one of the hardest parts of my job is launch support (in fact, I’m just winding down the launch of a major platform at work). Unfortunately, users are not always going to take into account that /u/steve228uk@lemmy.world is a one man dev team, and this community is going to blow up with questions and bug reports.

That being said, I really believe in Bean and I definitely don’t want to see Steve suffer burnout trying to keep things moving ahead. I’d like to volunteer to help triage support requests and bug reports so everything doesn’t have to be completely on the shoulders of a dev who should really be enjoying the fruits of his labor and a job well done.

I’d encourage others to volunteer as well, if Steve will have us. A small support team can make a difference.

I’ll definitely be a Pro user. You’re a great dev and deserve our support!
