Turns out reading speed and retention is better with dark text on a light background. I always use automatic switching when available… Light during the day and dark at night.

Unless it’s my code editor, if someone switches my code editor to light mode I’ll murder them.

DESCRIPTION Lavender is an AI system that produces lists of Palestinians to be targeted for assassination by the Israeli military "with little human oversight and a permissive policy for casualties", according to +972 Magazine.

Big yikes.

Man, 5 years. I know nothing about building a browser, but that seems… Long.

This is a welcome change, but took waaay too long. I switched to Bitwarden a long time ago and have no plans on changing now.

I’m assuming one would still be able to switch to a local account after installation, but you really shouldn’t need to. What a shit show.

I’m not super familiar with the differences between x11 and Wayland, but I’ve been experiencing some screen tearing in games with x11 that I don’t remember experiencing in the past. I’ve heard Wayland is more performant, but does that mean anything when gaming?

I am using an AMD gpu with just out-of-the-box settings. No additional drivers or tinkering.

That last part is important, because our emergency responders have gotten very good at saving lives (sadly, they've had to). People will point to deaths as the only relevant stat--and it's amazing that isn't enough for some people--but it's a huge burden and cost for healthcare.

You're using Linux. It took me about an hour to create a script that will upgrade all packages, Snaps, and flatpaks, complete with flavor text. The fact that I could do that, with total control over how and when to run those updates, is still a killer feature to me.

Which... Why? There's no karma to farm here, just post it once and let the conversation happen there.

No offense to anyone, but I'm down voting duplicates to try to stop this shit.

I didn't realize how uncomfortable my gums were until I started flossing. Now, if I don't floss for a couple days, it feels straght-up gross.

I recently got my PineTime, and so far it's a very cool gadget, especially for the price. However, it is giving me every notification twice. Anyone know if there's a way to fix this? Currently running Infinitime 1.13.0 connected to an Android phone via GadgetBridge. It is only happening with some notifications... But so far I'm not seeing why some do and some don't duplicate.

Don't know about you all, but I will continue to check reddit until Sync for reddit stops working. On July 1st, if it's no longer working, reddit is gone.

I have been trying to take my digital privacy more seriously as of late, but I find myself falling into a cycle of all-or-nothing. I will do a little bit to improve my privacy and then will suddenly feel like I need to go full-on down the rabbit hole. This leads to burnout, and then I'll convince myself that it's all futile and I should just use what's most convenient.

How do you all find a balance that works for you? Or do you just change things constantly?

I have to imagine many of these investors also have money in areas whose prices have skyrocketed due to "inflation." They've seen the profits other industries are getting away with and now big tech feels the need to do the same. These companies are supposed to be the future, after all... How will it look if big oil is more profitable than mainstream digital platforms? To investors, it looks bad.

Sadly, when your ability to generate profit relies on using your users (or the developers and mods that run your platform cough Reddit) like cheap labor, rather than providing better product at reasonable prices, digital platforms suffer in usability or features. It's kind of a lose lose for anyone that actually cares, because so far the market hasn't self-corrected.

I can't seem to upload images either in the app or via a browser and get a json error. Anyone else? Is it maybe the instance I'm on?

He is essentially saying, "we are unable to make a profit, so our plan is to use someone else's profit to make money."

What I think he's going for is sympathy points, but he did not read that back lol
