Trinity is criminally underrated. Compared to modern lightweight desktop environments (XFCE, MATE, LXQt, etc.), it's far more feature-complete and in spite of that it manages to run lighter than any of them.

Those of you who think the problem is data scraping or whatever are totally missing the point. All profit-motivated social media platforms engage in promoting hate content for engagement, and in doing so have deadly real world consequences. The Fediverse is one of the few online spaces where people can just be themselves naturally without being manipulated by algorithms. Given their history, there's no reason to assume Threads won't be any better about handling their own community, and anything that happens with them will affect the rest of us.

misogyny, as defined by webster, is "hatred of, aversion to, or prejudice against women." we use the term to make it clear that this contempt and prejudice is against women specifically.

conservative ideology seeks to actively harm women who dare be anything more than servants to men. to have contempt for a group of people unless they're effectively enslaved is to have contempt for that group in general.

No, having an account won't give you insight, but what I'm getting at is that most of us are here to get away from the glaring flaws of corporate social media. Obviously I want as many people as possible to join the Fediverse, and I don't see how advocating for or at the very least normalizing more the exact kind of corporate-controlled platforms that drove most of us here is going to help that.
