That's because it's not controversial and that's why it's so weird we're focused on it.
Minors are in the vast majority of times given puberty blockers at most which is a reversible process.
The focus on this non-issue is to generate controversy and impact hormonal care of minors and all care for adult trans people and everyone keeps falling for it
It's been around 15 years and Astley did it as part of the Macy Day parade. It's the furthest thing from obscure.
I liked it but there's two main issues IMO

It's a thing! Taking hormones can cause you to get a cycle. I get cramps and a bit of an upset stomach around the same time as my cis partner. It's really interesting.

They're both the same size (~350 subscribers). If you're viewing an external community on your home instance it always shows less users. (I think it's federated users shared maybe?)
Instance size doesn't really matter. If anything smaller can be better to avoid being on an overloaded instance.
That said I'm not really advocating one over the other. And with how Lemmy is set up it doesn't really matter to have some redundancy imo
